One of the popular places to go for sunset. Easy access and lots of people without getting crowded (laaarge beach). Recommended

Peaceful place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of commercial Street . Beautiful sand dunes and greenery along the way.

We went there to experience the sunset. It was beautiful. We also were able to see dozens of seal! Amazing! Swimming twenty feet off the shore.

We come here every year to watch the sunset. There's usually seals. It's a nice long beach to explore with a good amount of parking.

We enjoyed numerous beaches in our exploration of Cape Cod's coastline; and this is yet another one providing the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Cape.
Being early May, the area was uncrowded; allowing for a relaxing time of viewing and/or strolling about.
This location, as are so many others, is well worth a visit.

We enjoyed walking the beach here and wading in the water. We even spotted a few seals! The sandy beach here is more pleasant for walking barefoot than the rockier beach at Nauset.

One of the best experiences of being on the Cape- the oversand access to Race Point and Hatches Harbor. I haven't parked and walked onto the paid public section of beach in over a decade, so I can't say much on that. But as a pristine spot where you can set up with the family for the day, have a beach fire (with a permit) see the most amazing sunsets over the water on the east coast.... I can't imagine anyplace better.
My suggestions for enjoying this place to the fullest:
Go with a 4x4 vehicle, go to the NPS race point website before going. There's a list of requirements to get the permit such as a full size spare tire, a tire Guage that goes down to 5psi, a jack, tow strap etc. So make sure you check the website and know the requirements! They have weekly access passes for about 50 bucks between April and November. If you have a self contained camper, you can get a self contained vehicle sticker and camp right on the sand. Air your tires down, that is the number one requirement to getting out there once you have the permit from the ranger station/ permit office. I drive a Chevy 2500, and run my tires at 12psi on the sand. Low and slow. It's an experience to be had if you have the opportunity. Be respectful of the beach, bring a trash bag and pick up garbage if you see it, that's always nice.

We spent the day in Provincetown. I heard this was a great beach to visit, so we did at sunset. We even saw seal’s swimming close.

Can you bring your own kayak there and if so what is the best drop in point?
Skrevet 29. juli 2020
I’ve never seen Kayaks in this area, which I would think is due to the surf, seals and Great White sharks that frequent the entire National Seashore. I see a lot of kayaks on the bayside.

Do you guys know what are the hours and days that Race Point Beach is open?
Skrevet 8. juli 2019
Can you still get a pass to drive on the beach at race point ?
Skrevet 7. desember 2018
Yea. As listed in previous answer. Beaches may have limited times. Have fun it's beautiful!
Skrevet 7. desember 2018
Are there bathhouses and snack bars on the beach? Also we’re going there after Labor Day do they still charge for parking?
Skrevet 30. august 2018
The parking was payable - $20 per day but you can go to all the beaches for that.
Skrevet 9. september 2018
$20. per day is correct. There are other passes available that work out to be cheaper if you plan to visit the Nation Seashore beaches for 5 days or more. They are available at the entrance gate to the parking lot from the Park Rangers.
Skrevet 29. juli 2018
Where did you buy the parking pass? I was under the impression it was a lot more money.
Skrevet 25. juni 2018
Hi there,
There was a ranger in a booth as we entered the car park. We paid her (by credit card)and she gave us the publication with the map in it. She explained we could visit all the beaches.
I’ve just grabbed the paper - $20 for a private vehicle for the day.
Annual pass is $60.
Sorry I can’t post a picture of the page!
