I walked the Langtang valley track over 6 days in November 2019. Permits and a Jeep were acquired in Kathmandu with the help of our guide’s company Gorkha Adventure Treks. However we did not have a guide or porter. If doing this trek without a guide or porter make sure you get all your permits in Kathmandu beforehand. The walk was achievable in the 6 days. The hardest part of the trek is the first day walking 10km with an increase in altitude of 1000 metres. All the people we met were friendly but they all seemed to be competing with each other for us to stay at their hotel or their relatives hotel in the next village. It is best for walkers to spread out and try to stay in the smaller villages in between the more common route as described by trekking companies. This way you get to know your host and the people and have a more personal experience. We noted the lack of children in the valley. This is because they are sent to Kathmandu for schooling. If you wanted to take something for the people they would appreciate sneakers/running shoes, sizes 36 to 39. Price of accommodation is reasonable. Best to take your own sleeping bag, bed sheet and pillow case. However not necessary if you want to travel really light. The food is vegetarian in the whole valley. The momos are really delicious.

We have made a 9 days trek combining Tamang and Langtang trail. We contacted directly our guide named Temba Tamang (owner of Me Very Happy Guesthouse) and arranged everything via email.
It was a great experience with wonderful people.
Booking directly with local people avoids that most of your money goes to agencies, everything we spent went directly to local people who definitely need it after the earthquake.
Temba is a beautiful person who will share everything with you.
Don't hesitate!

I enjoyed trekking in the Langtang valley. The elevation gain is gradual enough up to the top of the valley to make it accessible for most hikers. Biggest difficulty to overcome is the rough road up to the start of the hike from Kathmandu.

A beautiful part of Nepal, although it is difficult to find a bad part of Nepal a land of contrasts from the jungles of Bardia in the west with its wild mammals including the tiger, the wondrously stunning Himalaya, where treks range from strenuous to others that are more relaxed and easier. But not forgetting the busiest of cities, Kathmandu and the tourist venue Pokhara with its calm and beautiful lake.
My Langtang trek, was challenging, I am quite a lot over 21! But such a good trek led by Raju from SAMSARA TREKKING.
Raju is not just a knowledgeable guide, he has done this trek so many times before, but a bird expert, I do not use "expert" lightly. He knows them all.
I felt safe at all times, and Raju also knows the best stopovers too.
All in all I would recommend this trekking company.110%

A month in the Langtang without a tour group. Fantastic! DO IT! Don't put it off.
Learning, walking, coming to understand the locals way of life, climbing some peaks, and loosing 4 Kg!
I went with the aim of trekking and climbing a peak. I came back humbler.
There are many tour agencies that arrange treks there, but most are not locals, and often not even Nepal people. I wanted just to find a local porter/guide rather than give my cash to a foreign company. Not easy to do as, although there are many locals who can do this, they are not on the internet.
A good way to find a local guide / porter is to google "accommodation" at the place you are going, i.e. Accommodation Langtang Valley Nepal, make a booking and arrange your guide through them.
I stayed at Me Very Happy Guesthouse, which worked out great for me, as Temba the owner acted as my guide/porter, and was wonderful.
Be aware communication is sporadic in many places in Nepal.
The Langtang was one of the hardest hit places in the earthquake (2015?), but fine for trekking now.
How fit do you need to be to trek the Langtang? Well, in school holiday, the local kids walk up the valley from Syabrubesi in one long day, but they are born at altitude! The rest of us take 2 days if you are a real athlete, 3 days if you are fit, 4 days if you want to take it slow, and 5 days if you are not fit.
Either way, if you are not doing regular exercise, I would suggest you do 45 minutes serious puffing 3 times a week for at least a month before you go.
If you want to climb Yala peak (5,520 meters), make that 6 months before you go!
Whichever way - don't put it off. GO THERE! You will never know what you would have missed otherwise.

We contacted this agency because we had so good experience of their services from previous treks. The trip was well planned and organized and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our guide Babu is excellent, he is knowledgeable, friendly and has good sense of humor. We also appreciated the good work all the porters did, they almost read our thoughts. After the trek we were invited to Babu's home for dinner, we enjoyed the hospitality very much.

...trekked the Langtang Valley from Syabru Besi to the village of Kyanjin Gompa. The valley is lovely with charming waterfalls descending from the Himalayan snow-capped mountains, the Langtang Khola rushes through the centre of the valley and its slopes are forested with spectacular pines, flowering rhododendrons and azaleas. Langtang Valley is on the border with Tibet and is strongly influenced by the Tibetan culture - it is sensed in every detail. Peace and silence are everywhere.
