I found Muktinath to be an incrediably spiritual place where each step was a walking meditation. I started my spiritual journey by engaging with local saddus at the base of the temple. This ancient Vishnu temple is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists and is one of the world's highest temples at an altitude of 3,800 meters. There are 108 water spouts, in the shape of cow heads, where Hindus believes that the sins fade out if you take the bath on all 108 taps. Near the temple isa 10 meter tall statue of Budda is the largest in Nepal and highest in the world, and not to be missed.

I have gathered so much good memories, words are not enough to express them. Stunning place. I have to tell every visitor to take care of their health and not be blase about any signs of altitude sickness. There are ways to take steps to lessen altitude sickness. If need be, an abrupt change in altitude either by chopper evac should be in the cards. What a memorable place.

Muktinath is a famous temple in Nepal, it is in Nepal's district Mustang, with a total elevation of 3,762 m above sea level. The only way to reach Muktinath is by air . to reach Muktinath Temple you need to arrive at Jomsom by flight and then by foot which is 18 km. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is also a pilgrimage sites for devotees.
My experience was good we started from Jomsom at about 9 am and went for 18 km, 15 by bus and the rest 3 km by foot it was a unique experience as the walk was a bit stressful, but the view was very beautiful and the pathway was good there were proper steps and leveled roads it was easy to walk the weather was very good, neither cold nor warm, it was perfect one. On the way to the temple, we saw many small hotels, shops, and small food outlets. When we went there we saw that there is still life. and people live there.
If you ask me about my experience from start to end, it was excellent, i mean stay was 5/10, the flight was 8/10, and the pathway 10/10. the total walk was good and enjoyable it was very healthy and good for your lungs and body keeps you fit and healthy. I would recommend going to Muktinath Temple as it benefits the body and mind through devotion and worship and keeps your body good and fine, because of walking. This trip is recommended for trackers and devotees who wish to see God and take his blessings and for those who have wished for some good thing. All in all, my experience was good I could see the temple and get Dharshan ( prayer) as the crowd was less. I certainly loved the design of the temple .it was good.
Muktinath is one of the 108 Divya Desham temples, You all must visit the temple, it's very good and nice . You have almost all the good facilities like a bus to reach the bottom half, that is you reach there halfway by bus, and if you are not able to walk special for the senior citizens who cannot walk can use the pony/horse or a stretcher who takes you safely to the top. it may be a bit expensive , but worth it, the people who do this work are kind and help you a lot, they take you safely. So, it is a very good place to visit and people who go will enjoy the trip and return with good memories. please give it a try.
Thank you

What may be the cost for flight and jeep trip to mukthinath
Skrevet 15. oktober 2019
Sorry I am seeing this query just today.
I don't remember the flight / jeep charges from Pokhra to Jomsom.
Jeep charges per person on a full jeep basis was slightly cheaper than flight ticket.
But as stated in my review, unless you have no other option, better to avoid road trip by Jeep.

Me and my friend are planning to visit muktinath in dashain holidays but weather is not so good . Its raining everyday . So we are confused about trip . Any suggestions ??
Skrevet 27. september 2019
Hi,
If the weather is forecast to be bad ( read: windy / rainy), I would advise to plan your trip some other time. We had an experience of flights from Pokhara to Jomsom getting cancelled and we ended up going by road ; though the drivers are excellent, the terrain is quite bad. Unless you are adventurous and willing to go by road for 10 hours one way, avoidable.

Hi Hiranmayi,
Trekguide has summed it up well. Take the horse both ways at slight higher cost but it would be better for you. Clarify the rates and currency before you get on the horse. Even after getting down the horse, the temple is approx 200 steps away. We had Senior people who rarely walk in our group, they did manage with the help of the horse.

Yes you can do it but be prepared for monsoon rain.

Hey folks I doing motorcycle trip to Muktinath.visa thing are necessary for Indian origin people and if it is so then how will I get visa tour and where I have finish this paper work thing.please guide me I am all alone.
Skrevet 31. juli 2018
Indian origin people don't require a visa to enter in Nepal. But note Muktinath Temple is located at Annapurna Conservation Area Project. And collecting permit is required from Nepal Tourism Board at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu or at Pokhara. It cost NPR 200 per person. Plus Trekker's Information Management System Permit cost NPR 600/- per person.
If unable to take permit then, it can be too collected on the way but charges double.
Have a pleasant journey!

Hi..How is weather condition during February or March at Mukthinath. Can a South Indian visit during these periods considering the cold. Please advise
Skrevet 19. oktober 2017
During Feb/March there is snow at Muktinath. You can vist Muktinath during this period. Warm clothes, scarf and gloves are a must when you venture out. There are nice and cosy hotels so you need not worry about cold when you are inside.
