Visited this museum not knowing what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff, and toured though an impressive collection of vintage automobiles and eclectic antiques. A special shout out to our tour guide, Megan, whose witty commentary enriched our experience.

This was an interesting museum, but not what we expected. We had been to antique auto museums in Fairbanks and Bar Harbor with nicely restored cars. This museum has numerous antique cars, but they are basically untouched since they were built. In addition to the cars, there are other antiques, a few old buildings and farm equipment. The manager was very knowledgeable about all of it.

The museum owes its existence to a local farmer, Isaac Clarkson. In his youth he starting restoring. One of his first prizes was a 1909 Hupmobile. He continued to acquire and restore vehicles at his farm for year after year. Mr. Clarkson donated his entire collection to the foundation, which at the time numbered some 65 vehicles. The museum has continue to grow and expend its collection which even includes a vintage school house. Hard to believe what is behind the museum doors. Elkhorn is located 100 km from Brandon.

You're never guess what was inside. This car museum needs to have a lot of people see it. They have cars from the very early 1900's. There are cars here that most car buffs have never seen and most of them are in working order.

If the layout leaves something to be desired, the collection of cars and antiques makes up for it. We came with three children under six, and it was nice to have the grounds where the kids could stretch their legs and burn off some steam before we saw the cars.

The vintage camper and two hearses, one horse-drawn and one automatic are high lights. Visit the Garden cafe down the road after for some lunch.

We have driven past this spot over the years, and finally we stopped for a visit. Wow, were we surprised at how large the collection is. Our youngest loved the collection of old guns, and we enjoyed exploring the old vehicles, including horse-drawn ones. The museum offers two-for-one admission for military and DND employees. The old farm machinery in the building next door was an added bonus. It is a large museum, and if you are interested in antiques and vehicles, this is definitely a stop for you. Expect to spend quite a bit of time here.
