My kids (ages nine and seven) loved the mine tour. The guide was funny and down to earth and the family was very friendly. The mine was really neat as well as all the artifacts they've collected on their property.

Nice place to visit, whether it be via driving, riding or kayaking or a mixture of methods. You can drive pavement almost all the way or ride trails all the way or kayak to or from. You could powerboat to but not from. Very nice area either way you get there. Been there more than once and via driving, riding and boating / kayak.

This is a drive down a long - near empty - road... to the overlook - with its amazing views. There is not much here - but beauty.
As another writer posted - it also has lots of off road and a boat launch. But its also worth a drive just to see what most people never do.

To think that once there was a dock here, way before the many dams in the Colorado River were built and that steam ships would travel in from the California coast to this location. Now part of the Lake Mojave between Hoover and Davis Dams, the area is a haven for boaters and those that want to admire the beautiful landscapes that surround the area.
Nelson's Landing contrary from the address on this listing is actually beyond the small town of Nelson, NV at the end of State Road 165 pass the El Dorado Gold Mine and the Nelson Ghost Town.

Living in Las Vegas has given me the opportunity to explore Nelson's Landing and the surrounding areas which are a must if you want to give this location a 5 Star rating. Most people may go there and become disappointed because there are no services whatsoever. On the surface, it looks like a dead end road that takes you a few hundred yards away from the Colorado River. The reality is, that if you know the area, (and have a 4 wheel drive) you can drive right to the waters edge. There are many dirt roads that take you various places. Pack up a lunch, and your fishin' pole and find a spot in cove where you can really enjoy yourself. I still go there to this day.

個人的にゴースト・タウンや廃墟に興味があり、ネルソンのゴースト・タウンの先でフーバー・ダムの下流にあるコロラド川を見たくて行きました。
川岸が小さなビーチになっていて、水も温く、泳ぐことが出来そうです。直ぐ南には泥道のトレイルになって、40℃の温度と砂漠の乾燥(平均湿度5～15%)に耐えられる飲料水を持って行けば、ハイキングも出来ます。
来た道を戻って、分かれ道を北側に行けば高台になってちょっとした展望ポイントです。
川岸の手前には、ゴミ箱があるのに、ゴミが川岸にあります。
トイレはあります。

How much unpaved road would we need to traverse to get to the landing? We'll be on Harleys, which aren't particularly dirt-road friendly. If we ride to the end of the paved portion, would we be able to walk the rest of the way? About how much farther (miles)?

The water's edge is a couple hundred yard walk from the pavement. There is another cove area about 1.5 miles further along a winding dirt road. The gravel is loose and very washboard-like for the most part. I would not take the Harleys on it. The area is a nice place to ride and check out the scenery.
