I took the tour since it was my first time visiting Garden for Sculpture and I was so glad I did. The insight and information Ruth shared made the experience richer. Every inch of this property is designed to enhance the art displayed. The Beyond the Frame element was my favorite. It was a wonderful day and will return to see this in a different perspective in the winter or spring.

Absolutely enjoy seeing the magnificent sculptures. You would need two days to see the total ground. The museum was nice a bit pricey but that’s with most museums.

Very interesting place. Fascinating sculptures to study from different angles, and the botanical plantings make this an interesting garden experience as well. Something wondrous around every curve of every path.

The weather was perfect and we all, even my teenage daughters, had a ball. The grounds are designed to roam and discover. Many interactive pieces encourage you to "enter" the picture and take some photos. A great way to spend a day among art.

My friend wanted to take me here, as I’d never been before - even though I’d visited her often over the years.
I loved the sculpture inside near to the gift shop and its connection to 9/11. It was very poignant.
The grounds itself were very well done and I loved the history to each piece and also how they were a mix of various times in the past.
As an avid art fan, I loved the Claude Monet bridge and Van Gogh sculpture positioned outside the cafe where he was painting the cafe….
At times it felt like being back in a park in Paris with all the sculptures from the turn of the century…..really lovely.
It’s well worth the day out - albeit a bit expensive but my friend had a discount code, so it was manageable for the 5 of us.

I went as a date location and in that regard it was nice, after around two hours of walking around we realized we saw everything and there were plenty of benches both in open areas and more secluded areas where we could sit and chat. The problem is that I bought tickets earlier that way my date wouldn't have to pay at the gate. I went up to the guy at the booth and told him this, and I even suggested "Hey I can take a screenshot and send it to her that way you can scan it then". He told me no, that he was gonna scan both tickets now, and then if anyone came under the name "John Kyle" then they would be let in. As soon as I parked I texted her to use my name and that she should be let in, unfortunately they didn't let her in and forced her to pay.
That alone was unacceptable but on top of that we had to reschedule, and at $25 per person that meant that for the two of us to go to this place once it costs $125 which is absurd. I highly recommend you only go if you have the date and time set in stone, come with the people you're going with, and you figure out something else to do after the 2 hours or so it takes you to explore the whole area.

What a perfect day for a day trip to the Grounds of Sculpture?!?! Located in Hamilton, NJ, Grounds of Sculpture offers a peaceful place to admire the sculpting world of art while basking in the sounds and feels of nature. The idea of the grounds started back in 1984 when Seward Johnson wanted a place to show the appreciation of the arts, especially sculpting. 1989, construction began and three years later, in 1992, the Grounds for Sculpture opened to the public. There are hundreds of sculptures on 42 acres of property with a few exhibits inside a few buildings. I do have to say that you do have to reserve your tickets because they do sell out fast; I made that mistake and the person manning the gatehouse was a bit annoyed (sorry guardsman). There are a few cafes on property, but there is a full service restaurant called Rat’s which transported me to the French countryside. Highly recommend visiting the Grounds of Sculpture for a peaceful day trip and appreciate art and nature.

The art installations are so unique and beautifully integrated with the landscape. It’s like walking through a magical garden filled with creativity. The place is huge, so wear comfy shoes and take your time exploring. Totally worth a visit if you’re into art and nature.

Lovely lovely lovely. I was so lucky to pick this out of the list of Day Trips from NYC in Time OUT magazine. It was just splendid. Perfect weather in July not too hot, a vast spacious over 400 acre grounds with many sculptures by the founder, Seward Johnson as well as many more. There were humorous elements, many lifelike sculptures as well as engaging elegant modern sculptures. The cherry on the sundae was Rat's restaurant which was delicious - seasonal food, popovers served gratis & thoughtful service. I love that it was named after Ratty in "Wind in the Willows" one of my favorite books from childhood. ! The koi pond was lively, so many colors of fish - I think the fish wanted to join for dinner. An amazing visit - highly recommend. NJ transit from NYC to Hamilton NJ, Uber $10 or less from the train. Enjoy!!

In my opinion Grounds for Sculpture is a truly unique experience . It is the perfect destination for an outing with your family and friends, or just go by yourself, you will not be bored!
Grounds For Sculpture is a museum and a sculpture garden. Amount of the guests visiting on a daily basis is somewhere between 350 to 500.
You can discover hundreds of contemporary sculptures. There are also rotating exhibitions in six indoor galleries.
More than 260 sculptures by famous contemporary artists are thoughtfully and tastefully positioned on the beautiful landscaping (around 5,200 square feet), surrounded by thousands of exotic trees and flowers.
The staff is friendly and helpful with the appreciation of your visiting!

What if it is bad weather the day we are scheduled to go?

About how long is needed to walk around the garden?
Skrevet 16. april 2021
If you want to really admire all the art and sculptures, I would allot between 3-4 hrs. We were there for three hours and do not feel that we gave everything our full attention but it was hot and the kids were tired so it was time to go.

What hotel is closest?
Skrevet 28. januar 2020
Like others who have answered this question, I stayed with friends and they did not live close to this venue, so I did not note any close by hotels. We did stay more than half a day and I would consider that in your plans. I would just use a search engine for hotels. I hope you find one nearby, this place is really worth your time.
