This place is not so easy to reach - there is quite a walk after you leave your car or motorcycle, but it is well worth it! A seat (and where they were later buried) of several Bosnian kings, it was very difficult to conquer. It is a pity that, beside chapel, there was not more reconstruction

There are mostly just the ruins left of the castle at Bobovac, there is a church, but not open to the public, but it was certainly worth the hike to see where the early kings of Bosnia had their walled city and castle. Is is a bit of a drive out of Vares, but the scenery is beautiful and the view from the top of the hill is well worth the trip. It cost DM1 to visit the site and there is a small museum at the start of the trail that has several Bosnian artifacts. If you are interested in Bosnian history, it is certainly worth a couple of hours to drive up and visit the site.

Historisch gezien voor iemand die liefhebber van geschiedenis is dit is moeite waard te bezichten.Maar er is geen expositie of wat anders te zien behalve oude staats moeren en oude Kerkje wegen tot naar Bobovac zijn slecht in nabijheid is geen restaurantje of hotel waar u kunt eten logeren of verblijven. Natuur is geweldig dus….

Wonderful place, remains of the old fortress are magnificent. It is especially astonishing how secluded the part to the fort really is. It is impossible to get there by car: you have to use a very narrow path, wide enough for 1 person only. Surrounded by high mountains, this place is so close and yet so inaccessible. It wise a pretty wise decision to make the center there, as the army cannot access the place (they could only approach 1 person at a time), and only in case someone betrays the king (and lead the enemy to the fort).
However, it is not easily accessible for the tourists as well, I guess that is why my review is the first one here. One way is to rent a car and go to Kakanj, and then to Kraljeva Sutjeska (more complicated way). Apparently there is another way to get there, if you come by car from Vareš, but I did not use that way. Anyway, I assume it would be pretty much easier to use that one. My visit was within an organized hiking tour and the longer path has been chosen.
