The view is decent as you can see in the photos, but the area is full of seagulls and the smell of their feces is unbearable. Just got back to the elevator as fast as I could. Would not go there for free.

This was part of our Over the Falls tour. I'm really glad this was part of it. It was really neat to get so close to Bridal Veil Falls. Also, the story of the 10's of thousands of birds nesting on the shoreline was very interesting. To think that many, if not all will migrate back to the Atlantic by late June or July. Recommend.

Nice views of the falls from the American side. Beware hundreds of seagulls are in the area as well as flying around. If u like the smell of seagull poop and don’t mind some mess in the walkways as well as the risk of a “dropping” that may land on you then this is a tour for you.

Outstanding views! We kept our raincoats from the maid of the mist for this adventure. Great idea! We got up close to the falls. It was very exciting.

We had Olive as a tour guide! She was super knowledgeable and her dad jokes were lovely! She is very quick to answer questions! Very great with the kids on the tour!

I love caves and I've done several of these types of tours all around the country. This was one of the best ones I've been to. Our tour guide, Olive, was fantastic and personable, she really knew her stuff beyond just a script, which I've run into a ton. 10/10 highly recommend.

Cool experience! You can learn about the history and have a great view of the falls! Your very high up and it is kind of scary though. Great place to take photos! Highly recommend!

Low crowds in the winter and the snow/ice is gorgeous to see in the falls! My kids and I loved it! Such a unique experience.

The intensity of nature can be felt first hand with this unique attraction at Niagara Falls. Cave of the Winds is a tour that should be on everyone's list when visiting the falls. The cave is run by NY State Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation and offers guests an opportunity to see how powerful the falls are at a viewing area at the bottom of the falls. Yes, there's a good chance you'll get wet from this excursion and in some cases, you can choose to get absolutely drenched! Highly recommended. (PS - Bring a change of clothes)

If tickets are sold out on line can I get tickets in person. Only visiting for the weekend and didn’t know I needed to buy tickets in advance

You can buy tickets on site. We did so. Just note, that they have a time schedule, so better to check the times and availability in advance, so you don't loose precious time around waterfalls waiting.

Tickets are not available on line. We went there on Monday （ A week before Labor Day ) afternoon around 4 pm in person, there are plenty of tickets available.

No, they don't provide sandals. We did make a stop at a small souvenir shop where sandals could be purchased. However, I highly recommend water shoes that are much safer when climbing so many (wet) steps.

How is it the beginning of April? Is the falls usually frozen still? Too cold to do with kids?

Depends on the weather conditions and climate, but the most probably yes. This year they open for boat rides because of the ice only at first weekend in May. However, Cave of the Winds is supposed to be open whole year round, so you can actually go. But you need to take in consideration that you can get wet and the weather can be colder.
After we pickup the sandals and ponchos, are we able to return to car to put our shoes back inside? I’ve seen that people leave their shoes around but I’d be more comfortable with having them safely in car.

No when you put on your sandles,you get on the elevator down to the gourge and you get your Pancho and proceed into the falls.

Hi! Were visiting first week in oct. and I'm wondering if we should bring/wear our won water shows? I heard they aren't giving you the free water shoes right now during covid. Ive never been and have no idea how wet you actually get. Every where i read says do save of the winds first then maid of the mist because you get the water sandals. Also for anyone who has gone super recently how were the lines and what time did you have to line up to make sure you got a spot on either attraction? also are most restaurants open just limited capacity and outdoor dining? Thanks a bunch!!

can you use a wheelchair

You can use a wheel chair to wait in line, go down the elevator, then after coming out of the elevator there's a long skinny hallway. I think a wheel chair could squeeze down this hallway. After you come out of the hall to a wooden boardwalk there's lots of room. However, you can only roll down the first part of the boardwalk; the rest of the boardwalk uses stairs (that are soaking wet) to get under the falls. I do think it would be worth.
