I was looking for ward to taking my husband and friends out for Fathers day.
The setting is beautiful. Found our table and sat down . Had to pay for our food first. Ordered and soup and 4 main courses. Soup came with main meal so asked for it to be sent back until soup was eaten
The soup was tastey
The Hawaiin Ham Turkish was dry, and tough, served with chips no salad
The Mushroom Bruchetta was good, loads of mushroom and Feta, no chips or salad
The 2 lasagne which were sent back arrived cold and dried out. The meat had a strange taste and no sauce. It came with chips which is not usual and a wilted salad.
The plates were left on the table for ages
I will not return
I was embarassed to have asked our friends to join us for this poor experance.

This replica cottage was opened to the public in 1994. The replica cottage has been modelled on the original convict built 1850's cottage that was built on the banks of the Harvey River for Sir James Stirling and is located approximately 500 metres further upstream from the replica.
It is reported that Author May Gibbs and her family lived in the original cottage from 1885 to 1886 when May was 8/9 years old. There are story boards showing pages and illustrations from Gibb's books dotted around the gardens.
There are some lovely landscaped gardens surrounding the replica cottage which has a gift shop as well as a tea room. We had some very good coffee out on the balcony and admired the delicious looking cakes.
There is plenty of off-road free parking.

Absolutely Beautiful 🌹🌺🌳 What a gorgeous cottage, and stunning gardens. The staff were lovely and friendly, the breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed eating it overlooking the amazing gardens. There was a lovely path meandering through with excerpts from May Gibbs’ books (which I read when I was a little girl). We just loved everything and would even drive back down from Perth just to visit it again ❤️

A gorgeous spot to stop just outside of Harvey. The gardens are lovely. We had lunch at the cottage cafe - delicious food and friendly service.

The Stirling Cottage is conveniently located just off South West Hwy when driving the scenic route between Perth and Bunbury, so it's easy to find, and doesn't even require going into Harvey itself.
There's ample parking, because it's right beside the tourist information center, which also means that there's toilets, and some other attractions to look at.
The main items available for purchase were coffee and cake. Both were good, although the cakes were average fare. They tasted decent, but the pavlova roll wasn't exactly a large slice, and the apple crumble really needed some cream or ice-cream on the side for best enjoyment.
Rather than sit indoors we sat under the shaded verandah, where there are quite a number of tables. You do hear some traffic from the road, but a lovely fountain on site helps minimize any noise.
Staff were friendly and polite.
We especially loved walking through the gardens along the river which is all on the same property. There's some lovely flowers, and a good path, with several resting benches, and multiple signs about Australian author May Gibbs.

Spectacular gardens nestled in along the river. Surprisingly dog friendly too which was a bonus. Looked to be a little coffee shop there too

Wintertime, yet the gardens are meticulously maintained, lawns manicured, shrubs and trees clipped and pruned, many beautiful late winter, early spring blooms with the tulips a standout. Great location to wander and enjoy the flora for an hour or so.

The gardens and cottage are beautiful close to the river. Go for a coffee or just a stroll best kept gardens around the garden staff doing a fantastic job.

Stopped for lunch on a stinking hot day. The room we were in was quite cool thanks to the thick homestead walls.. I had the Veg burger. Mushroom camenbert cheese caramelised onions and salad. Served with tasty sweet potato chips. It was wonderful. I think new owners have taken charge. Everyone liked their meals. The s&p squid was generous and very tasty. We visit harvey reg. Will stop again. Great experience
