A lovely NP but not much in there to see or do like other NP's in WA. Drove in there from Denmark and did a lovely forest walk but it was drizzle rain and really cold. Not sure if I would revisit this NP in the future due to there not being much to do.

This is a challenging walk for a 3 generation (ages from 65years to 18 months) hike but definitely doable and well worth it for the breathtaking scenery on the skywalk. The walk took us about 2-3 hours there and back, this was due to carrying / cajoling the two youngest members (18 months and 3 year old). Without the kids probably a 90 minute walk there & back. There are Clear paths with some points of interest along the way, until you get to the top. The final 65 metres is bouldering with (just ) enough handholds. But then, BAM! the view is spectacular. Great photo opportunities. Breath taking. Top three views of all time ( for us) after Yosemite National Park and McKinnon Pass in New Zealand.

Top tips : go super early to avoid queues at top and take a lot of fresh water. Proper walking/ hiking shoes are important. Saw some youngsters trying to do this in flip flops, which would have been interesting when/if they got to the top.

This was our 1st hike of our Great Southern trip. It was rainy when we were there, the uphill climb is okay if you are fit... for me, the concern was when I reached the 1st "obstacle" towards the top. There are a few big rocks to climb over, which already appeared difficult for me, made even worse by the fact that the rain made the rocks slippery. There isnt much support except some steel holders pegged into the 2 sides of the rocks. You'll need to be confident balancing! Many came and successfully did this to get through to the top and to reach the Granite Skywalk. Those who did said there were 2 more "obstacles" after, but said it was a good experience, in the end.
But if you have a fear of falling and of heights, this may be a challenge, especially when the weather is wet. But in any case, it was overall a nice, uphill, heart-healthy climb!

A small but beautiful mountain range within easy reach of Albany. The Skywalk is great but there are other walks every bit as good; ie Nancy's Peak.

Beautiful hike
It was a beautiful hike to Castle Rock. Sometimes it's quite steep, but mostly in the forest and we enjoyed the shade. We went up to the Karri Lookout and the balancing Rocks. The scenery is amazing. It is worth to do it even if you don't go up to the top end through the narrow gap.

Nice hike and you will be rewarded by the fantastic view of the Mount Barker region at the end. 30mins from Mount Barker. Allow at least 2 hours for the hike, longer if crowded.

Will need to climb up railings on granite rocks to get up to the viewing platform. Weather can change quickly.

First stop was the Tree in the Rock - a couple of minutes walk from the car park. A few massive cut Karri trees were lying close to the track. I was expecting to see. A small tree growing in the rock but it was huge!

Drove on to Castle Rock. The 2.2 kilometre walk up seemed to take ages and I quickly realised how unfit I was. My app recorded that I’d climbed 66 floors! The last section involved a lot of physical gymnastics to climb up and over big boulders using handles fixed into the rock face and then up a ladder to the Skywalk. But it was well worth the effort- views are amazing- like looking out of a plane. I don’t know how they constructed it but it must have taken a lot of skill and hard work. Once back down from the climbing section, the walk back to the car park is a piece of cake. I even had time to look at the wildflowers. I recommend you take a bottle of water with you - it’s thirsty work.

porungurup is an easy drive from albany. It is set around farming communities and throughout the drive to the set off point for walks the road is dotted with turn offs for little wineries. You could easily spend a day here. It is worth the effort to take a look

Very hard work to get to the Granite skywalk
The rock climb to the bottom of the ladder to the top DEFINITELY needs more steps or handles to pull yourself up they are spaced too far apart
The view from the top is incredible
Very challenging but worth it for the view

Went here early in the morning and had a look at the tree in the rock. Plenty of parking and good information boards. The actual signage of one of the walks was poor and we were unsure which way to go. few birds here.
