We had such a fantastic time on this tour with Brad! We have lived in the Raleigh area for almost 20 years and when family came to town, we thought it would be fun to take a tour of downtown. Boy were we right because we learned so much history about different areas and architecture, and local establishments. Raleigh has grown so much and it was great to explore its past. Brad was hilarious and kept us laughing the entire tour ~ so entertaining that I would definitely recommend.

We organized a custom tour for a corporate event with 30 attendees from all over the world. Tobacco Road did an exceptional job with every aspect of the event. The itinerary was perfect for our group and the organization was flawless. In addition, the guide added many special touches - from drink cozies to candies and water. Even a list of cool facts about the Triangle area, attractively printed for each attendee!

My girlfriend and I love spooky stuff and decided to go on this haunted pub crawl, we had been to one in Charleston and figured that one would be hard to top. However we were wrong because we had Brad as our tour guide and he was soooo amazing!! He was so friendly and you could tell he really enjoyed the history of Raleigh. I couldn’t have had a better time! Thank you so much Brad for making our tour so special!

We did the haunted tour and pub crawl.
I brought my parents with me as they were visiting me in Raleigh. Since they love history, spooky things, and enjoy having a drink I figured this would be a great fit. Oh wow, how I was wrong.
The tour started off with I don't really like going to all the bars because you don't get to see the history. She then tells us that some of the stops aren't her favorite either. Then proceeds to tell us she's not putting on her microphone. We begin walking.
Summary :
Instead of telling the facts she would tell us her personal opinion on the place and tell us she doesn't really like going to this place because it's not active. She also believed this was a comedy tour as she kept trying to make jokes instead of capturing the feel of spooky. She decided we needed to know of her erotica voice over background, cut out a bar due to time, took us to a gay bar instead of the regular one because it's fun and abruptly ended the tour at the last bar at 9:13 when the tour should be running to 10.

She didn't wear a microphone so you could hear her.
She couldn't set the mood or the tone due to her constant personal opinion or need to try to make jokes.
She remembered none of the dates and barely any of the history even asking us to Google it and would use the word interesting to try and capture our attention.
She wasn't sure where Hargrove was so our TOUR GUIDE asked us to Google directions.
In the middle of her story on the haunted haunts tour her phone rang and she had to check it (yes you read that right in the middle of the story her phone with ringer on full blast she stopped to check her phone because it was of the utmost importance and it was her boyfriend).
She decided to cut out a bar because it was too soon but she'd add in more stops (which she didn't.)
We were then informed of her resume as a voice over for erotica books and for Adam and Eve. Also how her daughter walked by as she was moaning for the read.
She then felt the need to take us to a different bar than the scheduled one because it's fun. It was a gay bar. Even though multiple people said go to the next bar she decided to stick with it. Once inside she decided to tell us the tour has concluded please tip me as the tour ended 45 minutes early. We had cut out a bar because there wouldn't be time and then abruptly finished early.
We had already cut out one bar on the stop so we went from 3-2. Then she decided we should go to a gay bar because it would be fun instead of the originally scheduled bar. So we ended up going to one of the scheduled stops on our tour.

My wife and I found Tabacco Road Tour after searching online for something to do on a Friday night. We absolutely enjoyed it. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We don't go to downtown oftern, but we learned so much about good places to eat and nice bars to visit. Learnng about the rich history Raleigh has while sharing the experience with other people who were in our tour, was a great way to spend a Friday night. We highly recommend this tour.

I attended both the "Raleigh Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour" and "Raleigh City of Oaks Walking Tour". Great way to get in some steps, while entertained and learning Downtown Raleigh history! Wear comfortable walking shoes and look at weather to see if you should bring water, portable fan, warmth, or umbrella.
I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of interaction from booking via phone to the tours themselves. Brad was helpful and showed patience with booking my tickets and clarifications. An amazing storyteller and engaging mindful guide, Brad made otherwise unbearable weather (heat & humidity) VERY bearable and enjoyable on both days/tours!
Hopefully, more stories and locations will get uncovered in the future, to open opportunity for repeat tour visits with new info/stories. I'd love to learn more history (spooky or not) about different locations via these tours. - Judith

I've lived in the Raleigh area for nearly 30 years and I learned so much about this city on the 2-hour Art and Architecture tour! It was a balanced blend of the many and varied sculptures, murals, homes, churches and other historic buildings that make downtown Raleigh unique.
Carolyn was a delightful tour leader! She is extremely knowledgeable about art and Raleigh's history and she clearly enjoys an audience. I felt very comfortable with her as we navigated downtown streets at dusk, and I hardly noticed that we'd logged a nearly 3-mile walk in the process.
To really see a city, I think it's imperative to walk it, and there's no better way to engage with Raleigh's storied past and current vibe than taking a walk with Carolyn.

The tour was great. We enjoyed hearing the history and stories behind the ghosts. Carolyn was awesome. She not only educated us on the ghosts - she also shared information on Raleigh. Definitely gave me ideas on other sites to see in the area. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Hello,
I wanted to book your haunted walking tour for March 16th but it is full. I was looking at the haunted pub tour as an alternative but it doesn’t specify if it is 21 and older. My daughter is 20, and doesn’t drink, but I wasn’t sure if she would be allowed in the pubs. Could you please let me know so that I can book this tour before it is also sold out?

Hey, so sorry for the delay. Typically in Raleigh it is not a great big deal as long as with parents. I do suggest contacting us on special situation like this to ensure the route/itinerary is OK for guests just under 21.
