… to see Lucky Bay at its best. Firstly, you need sunshine to bring out those incredibly beautiful colours. They take your breath away. Secondly, you need to be very lucky to see kangaroos on the beach. The local brochures say the roos “sunbathe all day” on the white sand. Er, no they don’t. They sleep deep inside the bushes at the back of the beach. We went at several different times of the day and saw just one, at 3pm, nibbling at the seaweed for about five minutes.
Otherwise, this is a lovely beach, great for a day out or a sunset stroll. There is a little walk at the back of the campsite, to a Matthew Flinders memorial, with lovely viewpoints for photos.
For me, I thought Thistle Cove to be more beautiful, and more photogenic. If you’re after wildflowers, try Rossiter Bay.

This beach was way better than any of the others so far in WA! Maybe because of the calmer water but the colours are next level! I loved it, even though the water was cold, it was a beautiful place. The cars and amount of people on the beach killed the serenity a little but it was fun to watch the other people around.

The most beautiful white sands and turquoise waters that you have ever seen in your life! The sand squeaks when you walk on it as is so ancient. Pristine and beautiful, we came at the end of winter but the day was sunny and warm. Very few people here at this time of year, which was a bonus. Summer time would be packed. We walked along the beach for an hour just raking in the peace and beauty. There are great faculties here and a new caravan park at the top of the hill. Absolutely stunning and a must. Very calm beach too in areas. One of the best beaches in the world!!

A must see- pretty pristine squeaky white sand and turquoise water. We did not see any kangaroos, but did help tow out another vehicle from the sand- let your tires down to recommended level if you want to avoid sinking in the sand :) Toilets at entry were good Aussie Bush Loos.

This was a definite highlight of our trip from Sydney to Perth. The campground was well appointed with great amenities given how remote it was. The white powder beach was stunning and there were so many awesome walks to do. The kangaroos came out in the morning which was just magical. Definitely worth the overnight stay.

This beach is simply stunning. Beautiful blue sea and white sand and goes on forever. We came late afternoon and stayed till dusk where we had the beach to ourselves. I would have stayed all night just looking around me and soaking it all in. A must when in WA.

Everyone kept raving about how beautiful Lucky Bay was and it was but there were so many people there as you can drive your 4WD's down onto the beach and there were many families down there. It was beautiful blue water and a stunning place but I think there were more beautiful beaches in the NP to spend time at.
Worth a visit though.

Make sure your fuel tank is full there are so many beaches to experience!
They are all just like the pictures show amazing soft white sand and crystal clear waters. Most have toilet facilities too and plenty of parking.
Stay at one or visit many they are all idyllic.

Lucky Bay : great views from the car park. Cold showers and toilets, plus internet connection. Very windy.
Large beach where most people drive on the compacted sand.
Day ticket covers you till midnight so long as you’re out of the ‘Day use’ area!

We are a couple of seniors with knee issues. Is Luck Bay accessible by non 4 WD and is it a long walk from the car park to Lucky Bay please ? Any advice appreciated. Cheers
Is that any entrance fee to Lucky Bay? And also car parking fee. Thank you!

Yes and No. It's a national park so there is an entrance fee, but you can buy these online for a small fee. If you plan tp go to more than one NO, get a Holiday Pass for $46 or Annual Pass $92 (concessions apply.

It is best to book in advance. Lucky Bay is popular with locals and tourists, particularly at times of celebration.

Really recommend B&B By the Sea in Esperance - 45 min drive from Lucky Bay! Below this accomodation, you find a beautiful "mini-version" of Lucky Bay with the same true-white sand and turqouise water. Second recommendation: Spend an extra day in the area, do not under-plan the time you spend there: There is so much beauty and fun to see and enjoy in this corner of Oz!
