Although I have been coming to Anglesey since I was a boy I had not been aware of St Cwyfan's Church before this visit. It is a centuries-old church which was once on the mainland of Anglesey but is now cut off by the high tide. You can walk across when the tide is out. You can't go inside but it is occasionally used for services: a notice on the window gave four dates this summer.
We had a pleasant walk to the church. Our Sat Nav wanted to direct us down a track which is not open to cars. We parked near the racing circuit and walked from there. As it was low tide we were able to walk up to and round the church and take in the views of the coastline. A very atmospheric spot.

Nice location and walk around the area, check the tides before you go, can get som lovely pictures at sunset.

A lovely little church in a sweet little bay.
The walk from either parking place is not too bad.
We sadly couldn't time it to be there for high tide and sunset (it was one or the other) but we enjoyed our time on this quiet spit of beach.
The church was not open by the time we got there buttoned interesting if simple through the windows.

Lovely walk to the church, just check the tide times beforehand. There is a small area to park just before you get onto the beach

Church in the sea never fails to amaze. Well worth a visit if you are on Anglesey. Try to time it for low tide!

Loved this place, stayed for ages cos I wanted to see tide coming in. Just beautiful.
Loved walking across the very rocky causeway and looking out to sea from the church. But it would be lovely even if you couldn’t do that because the tide was in

Just a short walk to the shore line is a hidden romantic costal gem. When the tide is out, the church can be reached by crossing a stone causeway. This quaint stone washed white church is situated upon a circular stone walled island and has a stone staircase. Theres wild camomile growing amongst the sea grasses. With two wooden benches at either end of the church, one looks towards the shore line and the other looks out to sea. Peering thru the old windows you can see simple wooden chairs, a wooden cross and a pulpit, no ornamentation, just simplicity. It's a place of serenity, peace, tranquility and a place to ponder life. Unaccessible when the tide is in, yet it would have its own beauty too, when its surrounded by the high tide, with the sound of waves crashing off the stone wall surrounding the island. The views from the shore line in any weather, would make a pretty picture. A place to visit and leave a lasting positive memory of Wales.

First visit here..bit of a trek to get there. However it's amazing. We visited at low tide so made the walk across. Once there, we took lots of photos. Very atmospheric place

A truly Beautiful and peaceful place on the west coastal path of Anglesey. It really is a stunning piece of coastline and the setting of the church is remarkable and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Enjoy.

How close to low tide does it need to be in order to get to the church? Within an hour, for example? Two? Thanks!

My husband cannot walk very far and so we would like to drive down the little lane but is it through the gate off the main road into Aberffraw? We didn't want to just go down it incase it was the wrong one. Thank you
