Enjoyed this park many times and the beauty never disappoints. The drive isn’t scary if you know how to drive and pay attention. The hike at the top is worth the views. If you can’t manage an uphill hike then the walk around the lake and bring some lunch is a perfect afternoon. Great spot for family, friends, kids you name it.

Head north off the highway and you will need to travel approximately 11 km on a bumpy, windy, narrow road. But well worth it There is limited parking on the side of the road. Hiking boots and hiking poles are recommended but not essential. The trail is well maintained, and there are numerous stops along the way to gather information or photo opportunities. The hike takes approx 2 hours. Very exceptional enjoyable hike.

Just a fantastic day hike up and back. The first half of the trail has some serious elevation gain but the trail is in excellent condition with switchbacks to make it more manageable. Nice lakeside camping and spots for lunch. Parking is limited so get to the trailhead early.

The sign says "16k to the Kokanee Glacier trailhead". This is the longest and scariest 16k you will ever drive...unless of course you are a local, 100% of which seem like fit, adventurous mountain men and women. For a visitor only used to paved easy roads, the trip to the trail head will be a real challenge. Don't turn around though before you get to the lake. The Old Growth grove on the way up is very interesting and easy walking compared to the all uphill hike to the second lake. Don't forget the bug spray! We got eaten alive. The parking lot has wire and logs which you can use the wrap around your car so porcupines won't eat your gas line. The parking lot was nearly full when we got there at 9:30 am on a Sunday. People obviously like this place as it leads to the cabins near the glacier for overnight stays. I don't think I could have made it up there however. We enjoyed the hike, but the road was far too rough and winding for me to attempt again as a visitor.

Old Growth Cedar Grove which is a nice walk, The beach goes on for miles clean, and quiet, camp sites are big but has tons of mosquitos so bring spray.

This is a lovely park, but is about 45 minutes away from Nelson. The salmon were spawning so we saw them swimming upstream in a small area of the creek. Bears were feeding on them in another area, so parts of the lookout points were closed for safety reasons. The beach is lovely but the water is glacier-fed, so it was very cold, even on a very warm day! There are nice play parks for the kids and lots of picnic areas and camping spots. It was fairly quiet there on a mid-September day. The visitor centre was closed.

While traveling through my wife and I decided to visit this park. If you happen to miss the turn off like we did not to worry there are turn around at every side. This is one beautiful park and wow i`m so glad we stayed even if it was just for an hour( we were in a rush to get home before dark). The views are awesome and the the beach area is very well maintained and the water is so fresh and clear you can`t help but stick your feet in it to feel the coolness and crispness of the water. I am pretty warm blooded so I went for a quick swim and love it.

A nice 4 hour return hike with the kids. Almost didn't make it out of the parking lot as we spotted a bear cub just a few minutes into the hike. We retreated to the parking lot, and waited to join another group before leaving as the mother was nowhere in sight.
Very beautiful hike. Would have loved to continue to the Lodge, but the kids were done.

They have recently been purchased by a southern BC First Nation. Hoping for some improvements though service good. Main pools were crowded on his rainy day. Too many children being their active selves. An adult only pool would be great and a bigger hot pool.

We are staying in Nelson for five days and wonder if there is a local 4x4 trip into the Kokanee Glacier Park. We do not wish to drive our hire car ourselves. Has anyone got any suggestions. Thanks
