This short hike up to the Bluffs which contain many fossils was nothing short but amazing!! The history of the area and the aboriginal history made this a very interesting site to visit.

ok, this is not Disneyland, but a lot of effort has been made to access this small area and it shows. Information signage, benches, an easy bridge to cross the creek. Washrooms at the parking area, picnic tables make this a great spot to stop and explore. Yes, not huge, but you can easily see the fossil hill and why anyone would want to climb up it is beyond me. It would only break up any existing fossils. Leave that to the expects to find something important than have tourists break them all up. AND IT IS FREE, need I say more?

Sure the park is small and the fossil beds are picked over but the drive there is beautiful, through the rolling country side and farmland. Picked cia berries which is wild blue berries oh so good.

Very small park but since it is not monitored, it is better that way otherwise too much damage would be done to the fossil bed. Already there are missing benches, displays, etc. Sad to see so much destruction instead of care when visiting these remote parks. Worth the detour just to get a sense of where fossils can be found but don't expect too much. Was disappointed because the hype made it sound much more interesting and larger. It is not.

If you are interested in viewing fossils, then visit this provincial park, of course without taking anything away.

. . . the hike was short, but the area isn't anything but a straight up look at a rock face and tons of broken shale to walk on by the information boards

This park gets little attention. It is off the beaten path. It has a creek running through a small canyon and a bridge over the creek to a short hike with a viewing platform and fossils at the end. There are warnings not to damage or take fossils. The walk is wooded and quite pretty.

It's a lovely drive out to the park from Smithers (it's 13.4 km from the highway, not 11 km as the sign says), and probably a nice place for a picnic on one of the tables beside the creek. The fossils are in a bed about 100 feet above the viewing area, and signs prohibit people going up there anymore. There are a few interpretive panels, but their design and placement at a 45-degree angle that reflects the sky, make them difficult to read (impossible for kids), and impossible to photograph for future reference.

Na een rit van 20 min.op onverharde weg kom je op de parking.
Daar, via brugje over het water, start de wandeling.
5 minuten later ben je op het eindpunt, en van fossielen is niets te bespeuren. Wij vinden dit een waardeloze uitstap.

We bike to the park from Smithers in about 90 min, which was a great workout on its own. Their is a nice river and signs to explain the history of the site. We even saw a porcupine walking around. the ride back to town was way easier, mostly downhill.
