I paid the fee, since I planned to see what the park had to offer. The fee was small - as a senior, I paid C$7, or around US$5.60

If you want to park anywhere I believe so. You can get a discovery pass from parks Canada and it lets you into all national parks for like 160 dollars for a vehicle, including everyone in it. It lets you into a lot of historical sites too! I found it worth the money.

I am so sorry, I did not see this earlier. There are many trails in the park, I suggest doing easier trails, as some can be quite difficult.

We drove thru Fundy National Park going from Alma to St. John, and there are lookout points along the way where you can get a good view of the Bay of Fundy. There is a great gift shop in the park, as well. Another recommendation I would have, if you have time,is to take the Fundy Trail Parkway near St Martin because there you will be given a map as you enter the area with countless beautiful lookout points that you will have easy access to, even with elderly parents (one in a wheelchair). There are waterfalls, a suspension bridge, a wonderful interpretive center modeled after the old loggers quarters of years ago, the Salmon River, etc. Besides that, St. Martin is a wonderful very small village that is big on charming sites. The Sea Caves, two covered bridges, a great little harbor, a lighthouse visitors center, and two side by side restaurants that complete for the title of Best Seafood Chowder. The legend of the St Martin Lucky Stones alone is worth stopping on the beach to pick a few up so you can make a wish. Happy Traveling.

I have stayed in both Headquarters and Chignecto. Headquarters is walking distance to the little town of Alma (a couple of restaurants,take outs, ice cream, a gas station, lobster shops, giftshops, kayak rentals and a bakery) It is also close to the large playground, tennis courts, golf and pool. The downfall is that this campground only allows group campfires, Chignecto is up the hill but still not a long drive to any of the park facilities. individual campfires are allowed in this campground. Both are great options and kitchen shelters are available! Wide variety of hikes available in this park ! Be sure to check the trail map for difficulty level. Dixon falls is a short easy one whereas some offer a steep climb and may include river crossings.
