I visited this museum one afternoon, and I really enjoyed it.
There was an exhibit on the agriculture in the region, as well as pianos and organs from the now-disappeared Dominion Piano and Organ Company. And on the bottom floor, an exhibit on the local contribution to the World Wars.
Only one bad point: the place was understaffed, with just one person there. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable.

..... however, it will never get back to the way it was when Charles Taws was working at the museum. He was the creative heart of the place and no one can do what he did.

Wonderful display of Sports memorabilia and Historical artifacts. They have a lot of free self-guided Walking Tour leaflets. I learned so many things about Canadian History and saw antiques from the olden days.

I was driving by last week and noticed a sign outside offering a free movie showing at 7. I went in to see what this place was about. It is a small museum including items from WW2 and Camp 30 which held German prisoners captive. Also on display are sports items belonging to people who became famous and were from this area. You can also find a bunch of pianos as you walk in because right across the street was a piano builder (now there are condos there). You'll find loads of info on the heritage of the area, not only in Bowmanville but also Tyrone, Newtonville and Orono as well. The cost to get in is usually $2.00 but for some reason they have a sponsor at this time and it was free to get in! It's self-guided and takes about half an hour to complete.
