I remember as a youngster going to Horseshoe Bay with family and having a good time. So it was a walk down memory lane to visit again. All I can say it has changed so much. The development is amazing with all ages and interests catered for.
The car park is well organised with one way traffic and the day I was it was busy and gives easy access to the beach and the promenade. The promenade takes you all the way around to the jetty and past well-kept lawned areas. Seating under beach shelters is available on the beachfront, for the kiddies a playground, BBQ, picnic areas, disabled access from the park to the beach, and toilet facilities. There is even a solar powered bench with USB charging points and WiFi.
And now the noted café ‘The Flying Fish’ which boasts a kiosk and restaurant is a focal point and very busy on a hot day. If wanting lunch or dinner it may be advantageous to make a booking ahead of time. It is named after an old two-masted schooner which was wrecked in the bay in 1860. Infosignage about the history of the bay is placed around the reserve and beachfront.
It is good to see the modern Surf Life Saving Club rooms in comparison to what I recall from years ago.
The reserve links with both walking and bike trails that go to other popular sites around Port Elliot.
Horseshoe Bay is a must if visiting Port Elliot.
Return definitely and all armed with a luncheon booking at “the Flying Fish”.

The views, the people, the food/ cafe’s are terrific. And if you have a day to go sit & wait to see the whales in mid June a great look out between here & Victor Harbor

One of my favourite beaches in S.A! Love the scenery here. Ample parking available. Nice cafe right on the beachfront. Toilets located close to cafe and parking bay.
We enjoyed doing the walking loop up above where you could see stunning views from all directions. We saw a seal 🦭 playing in the water from a distance.

This scores a high mark for me simply for the many memories it evokes. There is a nice sandy beach, although with a fair covering of kelp. There was once a caravan park here, but it was moved along the coast a little many years ago. Now there is a bowling green, car parking, a very nice café, and an everlasting building works for a new surf life saving facility. In spite of my pleasant memories, as I stand on the jetty looking back surveying the scene, I can’t help but think that the whole foreshore could do with a unifying make-over!

Heaven on a stick. Beautiful ‘village feel’ town, with great cafes, pubs, restaurants and magnificent beach.
Sensational beach and coastal walks with an abundance of photographic opportunities.
A must visit place.

This is a great beach. Lovely fun waves and plenty of room. A floating pontoon and a jetty. SA’s own mini Bondi. Only issue is sometimes parking can be a problem but be patient, we always found a close by park.

Visually this is as stunning a beach as you will ever find. The really special thing about Horseshoe Bay can’t be written about it has to be experienced.
I felt nostalgic for my childhood when I visited here in summer and could see all the kids lining up to jump off the jetty. There was such an atmosphere and it was so beautiful.
Did I mention you can see penguins and seals resting on the rocks from the lookout just above the beach? 😁
