Took a meghalaya 5 night 6day package through Thrillophilia. They covered all the prominent tourist places. Ms Saika Naz was most helpful and prompt. We had a car at our disposal and the driver was very humble and polite. He guided us well through our trip. the hotel were very nice.. Overall we had a very good experience and thanks to Thrillophilia and their partners in making our trip a wonder one.

A pretty village in contrast with most of rural India
nov. 2021
Visited Mawlynnong Village late afternoon, grabbed a simple lunch at the restaurant at the old parking lot, spent an hour walking through the well laid roads and concrete pathways between houses, admiring the cleanliness and prettiness of the village. Had a cup of tea and biscuits purchased from the store off the old parking lot and then headed off to the Hala Tyngkong Stay Inn for a very pleasant night's stay there. Highly recommended for a visit to see how this village is such a contrast from most of rural India

CLEANEST VILLAGE OF ASIA.
okt. 2019
Mawlynnong is a small village situated around 90 km from Shillong in the East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya and is also known as God's own Garden. It was declared as the cleanest village in Asia in 2003 by Discovery India, which makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in India.
Mawlynnong village is a community-based eco-tourism initiative where the entire community made collective efforts in making and maintaining the cleanliness of the village. Most of the house are made using local forest material like bamboo, plant stems , leaves etc giving an artistic look. Mawlynnong offers some of the most picturesque natural beauty with lush green valleys, crystal clear water in the river, an abundance of flowering orchids hanging from the trees and extremely clean roads which makes this small village a worth visiting destination for tourists,
Mawlynnong village also offers pleasant weather throughout the year and especially during monsoon, the village tends to extend its elegance which makes the visitors feels like heaven on earth.
Mawlynnong is specially famous for 100% literacy rate of tribal locals having an exceptional women empowerment. and offering a warm hospitality.

Overrated Commercial village
feb. 2020 • Par
We got to know about clean Village from India but actual picture is different. Village is not look like village and many commercial Banglow and house are built.
Full mark on cleanliness in village but it doesn’t give Village feel. Home Stay options is available and definitely peaceful place to stay.

Must see place

Regarded as Asia's cleanest village, it truly is. Though the restaurants and home stays have almost replaced the village, still it was a pleasant experience being there.

A somewhat over-rated place but one has to visit when in the vicinity!
nov. 2019
A somewhat overrated place... .... everything is so well manicured that it does not look like a real, rather natural, village. It looks more like a "tourist village". Every other house sports a 'home stay' board though I would anytime recommend Na I Mei home stay in adjoining Nohwet (which happens to be a more natural and enchanting Khasi village and is almost as clean) over any homestay in Mawlynnong.

Impressive - but choose if this is the one you want to pick...

Cleanest village tag does make it a Must-See - but then, its a long way off from Shillong/Cherrapunjee. And if you are short on time, you end up wondering - could I have opted for something else.
Dont get me wrong - the place in itself is good. And you must definitely combine the living root bridge trip which is barely a 1-2 km away... if u have come here...

But almost all of north east... Shillong to Cherrapunjee for my trip - was super clean.
So the village is no big deal. ... except for that they have done up the roads afresh... no potholes in the village (tons of them leading upto here - wonder if that was by design to make you feel the contrast) and some excellent floral arrangements in each hutments garden. Actually its the variety of garden flowers/plants that are a better attraction here - than the village per se...

The fact that every other house here was also a tea-stop or restaurant does kind of take away the feel from it ...
Otherwise - you just walk around the lanes of this village and then head back to the car...!

Personally - I might have just skipped it to get to Dawki earlier... !
But then - its different.

Enjoyable Trip
sep. 2019
Indeed it was enjoyable to visit this little village. I visited this place earlier this month. While I live in village myself, there is absolute no comparison with this village. The roads are so clean and marked out that you feel as if you are walking in USA. OR SOME EUROPEAN country. Gardens , flower arrangements, houses and their gardens are really nice. It is nice in fact to spend a night at least here.
