I traveled from Portugal and UK with my mother to do Darshan in several Mandir’s across India from temples like Vaishno Devi, Jwalaji to mention a few. Those temples are just as crowded if not more… but I notice 3 things in Jaganath Temple in Puri - 1) really dirty to the point cockroaches were going up the statues and the pandits didn’t care 2) the pandits are greedy and forcefully take all your money to the last penny, 3) crowd is so badly managed that my mother fainted due to standing in the long queue in the heat even after they took VIP Darshan money from me!!!
Government needs to seriously look into the infrastructure- this type of greedy Pandiya are not in other temples we visited across India.

It was an excellent trip to Jagannath Puri, we had excellent darshan of Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra Maharani. Just that we went during Dusshera time there was a lot of rush, other wise we had an excellent darshan.

Disappointed with lack of proper management and the voracious ,rude ,extremely greedy and arrogant Pundits ,who literally extort and if you don't give them the demanded amount ,they have the audacity to shower curses through their eyes .One of the Pandits ,lovingly ushered us towards the Sanctum ,only to ask us to Get Lost ,with a pointed finger, Anger raving through his body language .
I would describe it as the Temple of Greed ,Extortion rather than Lord Jagganath .
May Lord bring some humility and awaken their consciousness.

It was my third visit to Puri Jagannath Temple with the family, it is yet another magnificent divine darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balaram and Lord Subhadra I had this time.
Good to see the temple compound is made spacious and well maintained. It is looking awesome now. Crowd was decent as probably it was rainy time; although we did not have any problem with that.
We have a known Panda (Temple Pujari) who organized the darshan most effectively; I am grateful to him.
Technically, anyone can go and have darshan without having a guide or panda unless you want specific pujas or want to know the stories of the temple.
This time all the four entrance was made open for the devotees, although we chose to do entry from South Entrance.
It is indeed a peaceful place to be with your family and one must visit the temple at least once a year.
The temple has many stories which can make you to have goosebumps.

I've wanted to visit the Puri Jagannath Temple for a long time and finally traveled all the way from Hyderabad. Today, I had the chance to do darshan at this temple, which is one of the four Char Dham temples in India. The Char Dham are four sacred sites that hold immense spiritual significance in Hinduism.
Even though we went at around 10 PM, the temple was extremely crowded. People were pushing and shoving as they tried to get inside, and it felt almost like a stampede. There were no proper lines or organization inside the temple, making it difficult to move around and pray peacefully. The entire darshan process took about an hour, but we could only stay inside for about 5-10 minutes due to the huge crowd.
Despite these challenges, the darshan was amazing. The idol of Lord Jagannath looked so peaceful and unique. Even with all the hurdles, we felt happy and fulfilled after coming out of the temple. However, better crowd management and proper lines would enhance the experience, allowing devotees to pray in peace after traveling long distances.

I visited the Jagannath Temple, Puri a Year ago. As I am from Odisha. It is a pure beauty for me. Every time I visited Puri, I always kept a heartful respect for Jagganath Prabhu. My hero, my god.
A note for travellers Please avoid to go temple after 11 AM as it is usually crowded. And also avoid taking mahaprasad out of the temple. Remember there is a shoe stand and mobile, shoe stand to submit all the gadgets inside the temple arena for free. It is not allowed to carry mobile, Belt or any type of electronic gadgets. Always remember to wear an ethenic dress when you visit the temple.

Temple is fill of positive energy
As first time visit to temple I found Management in very poor condition as compared to other Dhams.
Lack of sign boards to guide crowd.
Local pandits also not so honest...
Exploitation of your faith.
Important points
Wear full clothing shorts not allowed
No phones camera slipper allowed inside temple same to be deposit in available shops/counter near temple

The only good thing about the visit was the Seeing the Idols of the Lord. Every time looking at those eyes of Lord Jagannath is surreal.
But every good thing ends here.
There was a huge rush of crowd inside the temple and absolutely NO Queue management. It was a Sunday, so crowd will be high, but it is all the more reason to manage the crowd. Someone from the crowd pinched me really hard and I was being pushed and pulled all along. I was shouted at for not moving, but how could i move in the crowd. My Mothers Churni got stuck in the wooden barriers in front of a priest and she was being pushed and pulled to go ahead, but the priest sat there without a single care!!!!
Devotion and all piousness was completely gone at that time. People were on the verge of hitting each other just to get a darshan. It was not a stampede, but an almost stampede.
I am not sure how devotion will remain after facing such a situation.
Please go on weekdays, you might see less crowd. And stay away from the Pandas, they don’t care about anyone, not even the Lord.
I am from Odisha, and this has become very common nowadays. There was a time when this temple was peaceful. But today it is not at all like that.
There were a few non-Odias and they were like, we weren’t even able to see the Lord properly despite coming twice.

Hello Viraj,
For your road trip from Sathupally to Puri, you can explore a mix of spiritual and scenic places. Here’s a suggested list of temples and attractions along the way:
1. Bhadrachalam – Famous for the Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple, a beautiful and spiritually significant temple dedicated to Lord Rama. It is about 120 km from Sathupally.
2. Vizianagaram – Visit the Ramateertham temple here, known for its rock-cut architecture and spiritual importance. You can also explore Vizianagaram Fort and its historical charm.
3. Araku Valley – If you want a scenic detour, consider visiting Araku Valley for its breathtaking landscapes, coffee plantations, and the Borra Caves.
4. Simhachalam Temple (Visakhapatnam) – On your way to Puri, you can visit this famous temple dedicated to Lord Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha. The temple is a significant pilgrimage site.
5. Chilika Lake – Before reaching Puri, take a detour to visit Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon. It’s a bird-watcher’s paradise and you can enjoy boat rides to see the migratory birds.
6. Jagannath Temple, Puri – The famous temple of Lord Jagannath in Puri is a must-visit. Ensure you spend enough time here to experience the spiritual aura and rituals.
7. Konark Sun Temple – Just 35 km from Puri, the iconic Sun Temple in Konark is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its stunning architecture.
8. Pipili Village – Famous for its applique work, you can visit this village on your way to Konark to buy traditional handicrafts.
9. Puri Beach – After visiting the temples, relax at Puri Beach for some downtime and enjoy the sunset.
This route combines spirituality, history, and natural beauty. Since you’re traveling by your own vehicle, it will be convenient to visit these spots at your pace. Safe travels!

Can I get a direct cab from bhubaneswar airport to jagganath puri temple how will it cost and will there be trusted drivers
Skrevet 15. august 2024
If money is not an issue, which city provides the best holiday accomodation between Konark and Puri?
My current plan is to go arrive in Bhubaneswar by flight, attend a wedding and leave for Puri and Konark for one night and two days. Can anyone help with the best possible plan? Thank you in advance.

Stay at Puri in a good hotel like Mayfair. Go to Puri and book a good hotel like Mayfair again, or some other one in town. Visit Konark, come back to Puri, go to Puri temple at night or early morning after staying at hotel. Do other parts of Puri after the temple visit and leave for Bhubaneshwar or airport depending on your schedule.
