Having life membership of the national trust, it is a pain that our cards do not have a bar code let alone a QR code for the car park machine. NT head office need to get it sorted!
However the staff were really friendly and had a supply of tickets available since it is obviously a regular issue.
We really enjoyed the walk around the heath on the orange path seeing some green woodpeckers on route. Looking down from the cliffs onto the crashing sea was exhilarating.
If you enjoy gentle walks on paths which are generally not muddy then this is a great location out of season - I can believe it would be packed on a nice day

Everyone said 'you must go to the Flora Tea rooms, the fish and chips are amazing. Believe me, the chips are AWFUL. Reconstituted potato deep fried many times, greasy and tasteless and of course, expensive. £2.20 a portion. The tea had HOT milk in it. Blimey. What a waste of time and money

Lovely day out whilst on holiday, nice cafe and well organised by the National Trust.
Lovely walks and just a chilling out experience, the beach was a lovely end of the day to eat our packed lunch. Very clean toilets as well. if you got good weather you will have a great time.

This is one of my favourite parts of the British coastline from Southwold through Dunwich to Orford. Dunwich Heath ahs several well planned walks around the Heath. Its interesting scenery and is a well looked after National Trust property. Despite criticisms for being Woke, the NT is a great organisation and this is it at its best. My one gripe was not the £6 to park a car, but the fact that if only one of the party was a NT member the others got in free as well as car parking is free for NT members.

Wonderful place to walk, with a national trust cafe nearby. Lovely views over heathland and the coast. The only problem is proximity to Sizewell, especially if they decide to build Sizewell C, which would be a very bad idea.

Lovely, pebbley Suffolk beach. Followed the narrow road down to Dunwhich really only because I've seen the Time Team dig there on TV several times. Didn't really know what to expect, but the beach itself was fabulous. Great for walking the dog. More people than I expected to see but it was a lovely sunny / windy day. Would certainly go back again if in the area, and would visit the Heath and MInsmere as well.

Dunwich Heath, looked after by the National Trust, overlooks miles of beach and heath land. The North Sea pounds at the steep cliffs above the beach - markers warn you not to venture too close to the edge of the collapsing land. We were lucky to spot two seals swimming along the seashore. In the distance Sizewell Nuclear Power Station can be seen. There is plenty of parking. A path winds its way down to the beach - don't try it if your mobility is limited.

We visited Dunwich Beach twice, the first time our Sat Nav took us to the National Trust carpark this was an expensive mistake being a non member it is £15 with a difficult path down to the beach.
The beach itself is cobbled but it is a lovely stretch of coastline and I enjoyed several swims in the sea. Highly recommend.
