An interesting old pier which has kept much of its charm. Some old fashioned attractions to keep both adults and children amused, and then there is the lovely view to enjoy.
A lovely location and a contrast to Great Yarmouth. My only negative is the parking arrangements, why is cash not accepted? Many older people struggled ans gave up trying to pay.

Lovely day out. So much better than Great Yarmouth.
Looked after and very clean. Lovely shops and eateries. This place is looked after and it shows.

This is one of the nicer and better-organised seaside piers in the UK. The shops are what you would expect: hardly Harrods, but with some nice gifts and one or two useful items tucked in among the (quite expected) seaside tat! ;)
On a nice day, a wander along here is well worth it.
There are a restaurant and a cafe: both perfectly nice although not cheap.
The arcade at the shore end has a nice family feel and is rather fun. There is a good selection of old and new games.

I am not usually one for visiting piers with their often outdated Victorian style attractions but this is a little different and attractive in its own right, filled with the weird and the wacky. The best is the strange collection of machines - including one that dispenses a dog that you can take for a walk! Whatever floats your boat. I am told that the cafe is good but alas they didn't seem to offer anything remotely gluten free so I never got the chance to find out.

if you're in southwold . This is a must do . if you have kids. You can keep them entertained for hours at the arcade. keep yourself entertaing. be sure to bring 2p and 10p for the slots. Will you be a winner ? must do if you come to Southwold. oh . And make sure to grab a bite to eat at the cafe. Also admire the view of the North sea, southwold, reydon, cove bottom ( don't snigger! I know it's funny) easton Bavents and walberswich

We had an hour and a half spare so decided to visit Southwold Pier. Parking was easy and relatively cheap. Plenty of amusements both outside (crazy golf, putting, model boat lake) and along the pier itself.the pier was free to enter and a good short stroll on a summers day. Disappointed the Pier Bar wasn’t open and we couldn’t find another bar nearby, although plenty of snacks, soft drink and ice cream kiosks along the beach walkway.
Lots of people on the beach, of all ages, with lifeguard stations manned, so looks fairly safe for paddling.
Overall worth a visit if you’ve not been before.

Unfortunately we visited on a windy summers day so did not stay for long, the high st is 10 min walk away filled with some nice antique and memorabilia shops, and as you walk the smell of hops from the brewery (took me back to my days in Romford)
The pier has food and a couple of Knick knack buildings, but is quite small and crowded on busy days

It was built in 1900 and extends 190m into the North Sea. There are eateries, shops, plenty of seats, your regular 2p and 10p amusement machines plus some weird & wonderful games in the wacky Under the Pier Show. Don’t miss the crazy mirrors on the north side of the pier.

What more do you need? This pier has everything!
Not only an excellent restaurant serving delicious seafood, but cafes providing coffee and cake and ice creams. A display of refurbished games for a few coins in the slot.
We've spent all day here today basking in the sunshine, sitting on the not uncomfortable seating and reading our kindles.
Admittedly not a lot of exercise, but who cares? Slobbing in the sunshine is bliss 😁😁🤠.

This is more of a review of Southwold in general but will include the pier.
Il start with the pier in case that’s why your reading.
It’s a tidy, clean, well kept, tasteful pier. A perfect, small arcade at the beginning of the pier (every seaside town needs at least one) it’s an arcade, it wouldn’t be one without a broken 2p machine and dated carpets.
Next there is a fish and chip takeaway. We didn’t try them but I’m sure they were fine. Next to that a bar (and possibly food restaurant) with outdoor seating where you can overlook the water while drinking a Southwold Adnams beer, what’s not to like. It was clean and tidy and the person that served us was nice and polite.
Further up there is a very nice, tasteful little seaside shop, not full of tat whatsoever, instead, full of lovely seaside inspired ornaments ect.
The end of the pier is what you’d expect the end of a pier to be like, wooden and overlooking the sea. Again clean and well kept.
As you walk back down the other side of the pier there are several wonky mirrors which my two year old found hilarious. Good fun.
Toilets; at the front of the pier there are detached toilets and considering the amount of foot traffic through there they would have been really busy and they were still clean every time I used them.
Also there’s a huge seafront car park next to the pier with extremely reasonable parking fees. It made going back there everyday for a week easy and without worrying you were spending a fortune on parking. Also you can pay using the machine or using the Ringo App (which makes it even easier).
I’ve now run out of time to finish my review on the entirety of Southwold so il keep it about the pier. However, in short, the rest of Southwold and down to Worbeswick was kept to the same, if not better, standard as the pier. Whoever are in charge of your local council should be very proud of themselves. It is now one of my absolute favourite places to go in the uk and I will want to come back year after year. Venturing out to nearby seaside towns turned us straight back around to Southwold.

I absolutely loved reading all the plaques along the pier - so nice to see so many different ones (not just 'In memoriam'). I would really like to be able to 'buy' a space and create a plaque - is this still possible or have you run out of room?
Hi, if you go on the website you can order one there
Can you bring a dog on a lead into the arcade?

Hi,
You are more than welcome to bring a dog as long as its on a lead. We also don't allow dogs into the Boardwalk Restaurant, but everywhere else is fine.
Thanks,

Hi Nicky,
Yes, we allow dogs on the Pier, they do have to be on a lead however at all times.
Thanks

My wife's brother tragically died in 1983 and her parents had a plaque put on the pier, we plan to visit this summer, will the plaque still be in place or are they removed after a certain amount of time ?

Hi Kevin
Apologies for the late response.
All plaques that are placed on the pier stay up indefinitely so it will certainly still be there.
We look forward to seeing you on your trip this Summer.
Kind regards
Peter
