When this is open, it is well worth visiting. Currently closed. A walk around the grounds is lovely at all times of year.

Really interesting visit to Copped Hall to see the renovation work being undertaken by the Copped Hall Trust. Our guided tour hosted by Philip was first class and to hear the history of the building and the previous buildings on the site over many hundreds of years was fantastic. Great value at £8 per person, should be double that!!
The large walled gardens were also a delight and we can’t wait to visit again in the Summer.
Note if you visit in the winter the house is very cold so wrap up well and a good set of walking boots would be ideal for the gardens that can get quite muddy.

We were a family party of nine adults and chose this date to just tour the grounds and walled veg garden. Parking was easy and the entry fee was £5.00 each which is a bargain. The gardens are open from 2pm till 5pm on particular Sundays and these times gives you plenty of time to slowly view the estate and there is a lovely tea and coffee room set up in the racquets court where you can also sample the home made cakes which are delicous. The walled kitchen garden is immaculate and a joy to view with plenty of Copped Hall Trust members around to answer any questions you may have. We are planning to visit again this time to view the inside of the Hall and admire the building works carried out todate by the unpaid Trust members.

We were so glad that we could visit here the same weekend as saw The Royal Gunpowder Mills.
As a child living in Waltham Abbey it had always been a shell since burning down in 1917. So to see it in private ownership of someone who wants to restore it to it's former beauty is a wonderful development. There's a large car only a short distance from the house. The care and accuracy of the restoration is marvelous but because of the cost, it's going to be a work in progress for many years to come. The guided tours are excellent, being informative and interesting. It's not just the house that is being restored. There's a small army of volunteers working in the huge walled garden and doing an excellent job. The views are quite amazing.
Definitely worth the visit but beware, it might be a little difficult for people with mobility problems.

Well worth a visit if you like to see a work in progress. Not finished and furnished because of a devastating fire. Nice little tea room (only instant coffee) guided tours by volunteers of the Trust.

I like to go to Copped Hall at least once a year. There is a large house which is gradually being restored by the Friends of Copped Hall and lovely gardens. I don't always do the house as the restoration is quite slow, but the gardens are lovely, especially the 4 acre walled garden, which has lots of vegetables, fruit trees, fruit bushes a pond and some herbaceous borders. There are always plants for sale which have been propagated from the plants in the gardens. There are lovely teas and homemade cakes available on open days. Indoor seating is available in the old racket court and plenty of outdoor seating if it is nice.

Have seen this house from the M25 since the motorway was built but had never been there until to-day. It was gutted by fire in 1917 and only in the last 20 odd years has started to be restored having been vandalise in between times. Wonderful to see fantastic work in progress with a lot of restoration well under way but only one room finished. It needs to be seen and then often visited to see how the work is progressing and they deserve every penny you can give! We went with Invitation to View but there are other day visits and we were very lucky to be shown round by the architect who has been the inspiration behind the project and he does deserve huge praise. GO!

Surrounded by beauty and dripping with history.
This place is something to see, I love how the local community have been rallying together for years to bring this beautiful building back up to its original state. They have a long way to go but they have already done so much.
Keep up the good work Epping.

They have good concerts in an historic building venue. You can bring your own food but purchase beer/wine there. Money helps to restore this fine old building.

Park you car the other side of the Motorway and enjoy the walk. Nice place to go when they have an open day so you can explore the inside and understand the history and all of the conservation work which over many year's mow has been completed by volunteers. Not least the Gardens and the allotment. Go when the waether is kind and nice for the best experience
