I treated my boys (18 and 23) to the Racing Car Driving Experience (for 2 people @ £279) as their christmas present. They loved it and we had a wonderful day. Very slick - out of detailed safety briefing and straight into the cars for the demo then rapidly worked through the rest of the session. Staff were friendly, place was clean and well organised. No sales pressure for extra laps, or any unexpected costs. We liked the fact that the whole of the circuit was used.
A few notes for spectators - firstly once they start on their experience I didn't get to see them again until the end. It was so rapid between cars that they didn't get the chance to text me a car number, so I had no way of identifying them on circuit or know what stage they were at. (Hint - wear an unusual colour top then i may possibly have spotted them)
Secondly, swish though the hospitality centre is, - it doesn't have the best position on the circuit. Better to take a picnic, cross back through the tunnel turn right and walk (barely even 10 mins) to sit at the top of the spectator banking on the Campbell/cobb/seagrave complex set of bends. From there you have the best set of corners for overtaking or cars getting sideways and a good view of nearly 75% of the circuit.
I do think that for the High Speed Passenger Ride, if there are 3 passengers, one of which has paid just for that experience rather than as an add on to the rest, you should be taken around more than just once. it was worth the £20 though.

I enjoyed the skid pan experience tremendously. From check in to finish, the event was professionally conducted. Although sharing the car with a fellow driver, with the instructor monitoring from the visitor centre via a radio, it worked well. With a front wheel drive Mini and a rear wheel drive Toyota to work with, the techniques to handle a skid were explained and practised. Ample time to try handling the cars both with safety devices engaged and disengaged. Not only was it fun and informative, it gave a valuable safety lesson to even the most experienced driver. Top marks.

From start to finish, we felt welcomed and safe in the friendly environment. Weather was bad but the experience more than made up for that! It was a pleasure to meet everyone and look forward to returning in the future!

i have been attending the BTCC for the last 5 years(pre covid) most of them i have camped for the weekend , this year they brought in a new way of setting where you can camp they painted lines like a car parking space for your tents or motorhome to fit you and five other people on the pitch .
you were put side by side with no room between pitches for safe spacing in my case touching wing mirrors with the van next to me to gain as much space as possible.
i am hoping that next year 2022 they have a rethink and back to how it was as this year it did't work and if you wanted to camp with your friends you all had to turn up together which would work in an ideal world but its not , if its the same next year i will go else where

This was my second time to drive the Porsche Cayman around Thruxton. My instructor this time was Lydia, who told me she had only been doing this for a short time. She was so professional, her instruction was exact and her encouragement made you feel at ease. I would recommend this as a driving experience to anyone. You come away with a smile from ear to ear on your face looking forward to the next time.

A great venue and with plenty of helpful staff around. Traffic is also well managed with temporary traffic lights put up on the main road to help traffic flow on exit (BTCC weekend).
Food is a bit expensive for what you get but that's typical of places like this.

Belated birthday present initially scheduled for last year. We bought a Porsche 1 to 1 driving experience for our friend’s 70th birthday at Thruxton Curcuit. We cannot praise the staff highly enough. They were friendly, professional and very accommodating. We all really enjoyed our afternoon. It’s a great venue with plenty of things to watch and the driving experience was excellent. A nice afternoon out for all the family. There’s a cafe onsite, which we didn’t use because we bought a picnic with us. Special mention for Claire on meet and greet and Charlotte our professional driver.

Came for BTCC raceway at Thruxton and once again had a great experience. With the paddock now open back up to fans, it was great to go and see the teams prepping and even see some of the drivers wandering around.
Thruxton has a great community feel and is my favourite place to come and watch the touring car racing. The viewing areas also offer a great look out across the track and i would recommend watching from the complex. Great day

I wish I could give ten stars after our day at Thruxton circuit yesterday. My brother and I drove the Supercars and it was amazing. All the cars were so different from one another, it was the perfect experience. The instructors are fun, friendly and super smart and they really want you to have your best drive so listen up! We also did 10 laps in the single seater open wheel cars and I was super nervous going out without the safety net of an instructor. It was hands down the best experience of the day as the instructors had set us up perfectly. Highly recommend any and all of the experiences at Thruxton. There’s so much to choose from and you really can’t go wrong. A must experience for racing fans but anyone would enjoy it.

I think normally there are disabled toilets on site, and there's a lot of ramping, but the one thing you really need to be aware of is the size of the site, it's really big!
If you have one, this is the kind of site that would be seen easily using a powered chair. I should say quickly however that I didn't see any plug in points, at least obvious ones.
You might also find knobbly tyres useful. A lot of the viewing areas have pathways leading to them, but at the same time, there is a lot of grass and the occasional dirt path.

Hi Paul, I intend going to Truxton for the BSB motorcycle event and thought about camping. Can you tell me more about the campsite as I have a motorhome that is 8.4 m long and 3.1 m high, will I have a problem getting this into the camp site? and is it all grass are because if it rains my front wheel drive will just spin on the wet grass.

Sorry I can't help on this but if you ring the circuit they are generally really helpful. I would have thought that as this is a rural venue you would be ok.

Do you need a driving licence to be able to race these cars? Or do you need some time with the instructor to show that you can drive..?

Hi, except for our junior driving experiences, yes you do need a full driving licence. As part of the track driving experiences, guests have time with a race instructor both as a passenger and driving to help learn the circuit and the racing lines.

Hi, I'm looking to plan the races I want to go to next season, and Thruxton is one that ive never bern too. I live over 3 and a half hours away from here and am wondering just how bad it is to get in and out of the car park for a big event ie BTCC. I've seen mixed things and as I've got a long drive home, I don't want to be stuck in a car park for ever. thanks

Hi. We have plenty of free car parking space so you'll always be able to park no matter what time you arrive.
Inevitably when large numbers of people all try and leave at the same time, this can cause a slight delay in getting out of the circuit. We do everything we can to minimise this.
We also recommend visitors stay after the last race for the podium celebrations and meet the teams and drivers in the paddock.
