My 3 year old & her friend loved it as much as the adults. It is a shame more exhibits can be sat in but I understand this must be a tricky balance.
The outside play area was a huge hit!
The lady on reception was lovely, she took the time to talk to us as we left & gave our girls stickers. We will be back. Personal having not visited since COVID ( when I didn’t have a child) I was delighted to see the cafe seems to have improved.

This museum blends nicely for adults and rug rats.

I would say 3 hours or so of interesting reads and exhibits. I especially like the 1940 house very realistic.

The history of the army unit and where it’s been in the world. Easy parking.

There were some exhibits that looked / were out of order which was a bit of a disappoint as would like to have used a helicopter simulator type set up.
Then 5 *

There is a café and picnic area which over looks a working airfield

Cheaper to get tickets on line, this for gift aid and tax stuff I guess.

A superb museum with some fantastic aircraft exhibits.
Traces army flying back to the Royal Flying Corps and forward to today.
My 8 year old grandson loved his visit - so much for young folk who are really well considered at the museum.
Catering is OK.

We was all looking forward to this as it was something that my two Grandchildren wanted to do.
The displays are set out in various rooms and themes. My two Grandchildren enjoyed building the jet engine and listening to it starting, that's if its done properly.
There is plenty to see and the sounds add to the experience, the restaurant with views overlooking the airfield is impressive and so is the adventure area. We sat and watched several gilders taking off and landing. The prices are about average in the restaurant, but nicely prepared.
My personal impression is that there could be more thought put into the displays to make them more authentic as there was a lot of space around where the Huey helicopter was, perhaps a Vietnamese theme with sounds and stories of what happened then.
Overall we enjoyed it.

We visited the museum based on a recommendation and interest in Army flying and were not disappointed!
The museum has an excellent range of exhibits and information for anyone with even a passing interest in Aviation or military history. Taking you through the first Army observers, through to the most up to date information on the Apache.
The museum uses the exhibits and artefacts to lead you through the history of Army flying, these include models, interactive displays and of course full size Helicopters, planes and engines.
You come out of the museum with a much better appreciation of the history of Army flying and the many varied locations and theatres they have operated in from exploration, humanitarian, peace keeping and of course wartime through the years.
We spent probably 3 hours or more at the museum and probably didn't see everything in the detail we would have liked. We also enjoyed the very good café on the site while we were there, which had a good range of refreshments available. The café gives you an excellent view of any operations going on at the Airfield, we enjoyed watching gliders while we were there at the weekend.
Plenty of free parking on site and a great little gift shop with a good range of items available for sale.
A great museum and well worth a visit

Unfortunately, we arrived too late to take advantage of the 'Seniors Day' offer of complimentary Tea/Coffee as the Cafeteria closed at 3.30 pm, we opted to have a somewhat shortened tour of the museum as that also closed at 4.30pm. A really interesting exhibition and we were disappointed that we had insufficient time to digest everything that was on display. Certainly a must for a second and longer visit when we are again in that area of the UK

Visited on Saturday 14/01/23. First visit for my wife and my second since my visit with my parents in 1985. Ample free parking adjacent to the entrance. Combined entrance/shop that you pass through on your way in and way out. There is a cafe on the side which you can access independently of the museum, but you shouldn't access the museum through the internal door unless you have already purchased a museum entry ticket. The scope of the museum content is limited by the very nature of its remit in covering flying operations within the Army, which mainly consists of helicopters and small spotter planes. Was excited to re-see the Argentinan Puccaras that were displayed outside on the 1985 visit, but these have either been cut up or moved to other museums since.
