A great way to discover how we used to mill the wheat that made the bread that fed the local communities. This is not just a museum but living history

Visited knowing the windmill was closed for the season- but there was a school visit just leaving. The miller who had just done a tour VERY kindly showed us all round the mill-right to the very top!! Having great childhood memories of having been in it before when it was actually working, I was thrilled to be allowed to see it again. Well worth the visit.

The view from the Mill is quite beautiful well worth a visit but check for opening times as the mill only opens on particular days. The mil is operational when I paid a visit and you could purchase freshly ground flour

One of a very few working windmills left in Kent, thankfully this one is supported by an active and knowledgeable group of supporters to enable this mill to occasionally produce flower. At the time of my visit no flour had been produced in a while as they were looking to train a third miller, as it takes 2 to run the mill during production. One day I would love to visit to see it catching the wind and making flour

Un fortunately, the mill was closed on our visit. As it is staffed by volunteers it is only open at weekends. However, we ha a good look around the outside and read the informative panels detailing its history and construction. Easy walk from the lovely town centre so worth a visit. Whilst in the town look out for the plaques on a number of the buildings telling of their history.

Visited this Mill whilst in Cranbrook recently. It was closed whilst we were there but will be open at the weekend (this was Monday). Apparently it is staffed by volunteers and the mill still operates and makes its own flour, which is sold to the general public.

If the mill is open on a weekend you are visiting Cranbrook it is a must see.
Very helpful volunteers who know all the history and story about the mill. Great experience but you must be able to climb a few steps. It really is not at all taxing and well worth it when you do.

It's a workout as well as an utterly fascinating visit. There are many many steps and every one worthwhile. You can buy flour too.
