Had a lovely Spa Day Experience. Love the outdoor rooftop area. The sun was shining which made it even more pleasant. I've noticed that some reviews have said that standards have slipped but this is my 3rd visit in 4 years and I did not notice any!!! It was the first time for my 3 friends and they thought it was fabulous. We had dinner in Bertrams which was delicious!! The chocolate and berry pudding was to die for!!! Big thanks to Ellie who was very patient and helpful. We are 4 mature women who can be very hard work!!! Only one little criticism - a lady at Spa reception called over to us rather rudely that we needed to return our locker keys. We were just about to so no need!!

After visiting the spa several times over the years.
It seems to have lost its edge as far as SPA experiences go .
Initially has still has some wow factor, and the staff and service is as it has always been very good. Restaurant food lovely as always.
Though the SPA it’s self is in need of maintenance mould in the steam room. Overall it looks tired and grubby if am honest. For the price increase I would have expected a maintenance and overall refurb of the SPA area.
In comparison to the resorts hotel the are some significant difference in wow factors and while the hotel is much newer in comparison , it now seems time they need get the spa up to the same standards aesthetically.
As Overall it’s gone from a lovely experience to an over priced average experience.

Visited yesterday for a Thermal & Dine Spa day. The staff are fabulous- all of them- and they work so hard to ensure you have a memorable experience- even the staff in the Terrace bar/restaurant- all lovely.
Unfortunately, the Woodland Spa is looking really tired… standards have slipped. Mouldy ceilings in the steam rooms, dirty windows, showers with black mould, flaky paintwork- it just doesn’t have the same wow factor it did when I visited 4 years ago. Such a shame as this place is not cheap, and you really do expect to get that wow factor.
Was also such a shame that there were a variety of ‘questionable’ clientele- couldn’t handle their drink, e cigs everywhere and lots of swearing, spoils the tranquility somewhat! Dirty towels literally everywhere and the poor staff constantly trying to keep up with moving them off beds. Also saw a man walk through the thermal suite with a pint of lager and a shot?!
I wouldn’t return, hoping to try Coniston Spa Skipton instead. Maybe after the refurb things will improve?

Over the years I've visited the woodland spa many, many times. Usually at least 2-3 times a year. I've been with my husband, my mum, groups of friends etc and it's always the first place I think of when gifting vouchers.
Today I'm writing a critical review of this place that I love in the hopes that it is taken constructively.
As with most places, since covid there has been a huge price hike, and it's now almost 50% more expensive to visit the woodland spa than it was just last year. When standard's are kept high I think the cost is justified. However, sadly standards have slipped as the price has risen. Everything looks tired and in need of renewal.
A few things noticed on my recent visit-
1. The plastic lining of the big outdoor pool is peeling away so badly that it's completely bubbled away on the steps into the pool, to the extent that it feels like the steps are floating away as you use them - potentially a hazard. Worse on the right hand side but not great on the left.
2. Ceiling in salt steam room is mouldy
3. Ceiling above ladies showers is badly cracked
4. Neal & Wolf products in the showers are clearly refilled with a different product. I use the intensive conditioning treatment at home every time I wash my hair so I know with 100% certainty that it wasn't that, it doesn't even smell anything alike. I don't understand why pretend it is that product, either fill them with the product labelled or put generic product in a generic bottle. Doesn't help that neal and wolf is then sold at reception and people will think they're getting what they just tried, but they're not. There's nothing that will convince me otherwise on this.
5. When waiting for a treatment, you used to be able to help yourself to a tea/coffee, now you can only have a water, obviously cost cutting but when you're paying £90+ for a massage what really is the cost of a cup of tea?
6. I noticed that all of the beds have been replaced with new loungers, I'm guessing this is to save costs on washing all of the cushions that used to be on the old beds, and perhaps less tidying to do of messy cushions. Sure they look great and this is somewhere money has been spent, but they're not great for the serenity room. Those comfy cushioned beds were amazing for falling asleep on, these new ones aren't nearly as comfy.
7. This might not be a change but I had to include it... £3.75 for 1 cup of English breakfast tea is just ridiculous. It's the same price as a latte, despite being a cheaper drink to produce. Crazy. I'm not being cheap, I don't mind spending on food & drink, but that's a bit of a rip off with a captive audience.
8. Most hairdryers are missing the nozzle.
I want to add that I will still return because it's a fantastic day out. So many different facilities, you can easily spend the entire day here and still not want to leave.
The staff are absolutely amazing, all so professional and attentive, making you feel so comfortable! From the desk staff through to the cleaners, all faultless.
Treatments again, amazing. Lovely treatment rooms, professional staff, perfect atmosphere and worth every penny.
When your robe/towel is damp you can go and get fresh ones and they're always soft and warm.
You can wear your own footwear, or purchase flip flops for a reasonable £3. Though I would say if you're a size 6 go for Large. I was recommended medium last time I went and they were too small but I'd already pulled the tag off.
Menu on the spa and dine package is brilliant and always very high quality, if you get chance to visit bertram's again in the evening I'd highly recommend it- their rosette menu is fantastic.
Try the smoothies in the terrace bar, they're delicious.
I already have my next spa day booked, and I do look forward to returning, I just wish that they'd maintain it better because honestly I'm not sure I'll continue to recommend it until the standards pick up again. My inlaws are visiting next week, on my recommendation, and I'm a little embarrassed by the points I've mentioned above after I've raved about it to them. I hope they enjoy the day without being too critical.
As I said I will continue to visit, and if I see improvements I will definitely come back and edit this review, but as it stands I'm just being honest.

What a fantastic spa. Decided to book a treat with a friend for something to look forward to as there was a long waiting list. Have to book far in advance. It was worth the wait. The whole place is very well thought out and there is plenty to do. The staff were incredibly helpful and took time to explain all the facilities and the timings for the day. Excellent.

Absolutely fabulous stay at the Crow Wood Hotel overnight, and a full day in the glorious Woodland Spa with my bezzie.
We have visited many, many spa's both day and overnight packages over the last 15 years and this is certainly one of our favourites.
The spa is spotless and although was very busy, we never had a problem whether we wanted to sit outside in the sunshine, visit the steam/sauna's etc or catch lunch in the Terrace bar. If there was a very slight criticism it would be that the staff in the terrace bar could be a little bit more jovial (as per previous reviews) but it didn't spoil our stay - just a note to management to make sure it doesn't spoil future guest stays.
The hotel was lovely, and a wonderful greeting by the staff. We ate in Bertrams for our evening meal and all I can say is WOW! The young man that served us was lovely, and the food was outstanding.
Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and tasty. I would not hesitate to return here again in the future.

Booked a spa package with dinner, bed and breakfast for a couple . Prices don’t tend to be online - it was £432 for us . The meal is a 3 course meal and some supplements such as steak and most of the desserts on top. We did include the châteaubriand which increased it by £45.
Back to the spa itself . We thought the receptionists were very welcoming and clearly talked us through some pointers and rules such as not reserving beds anywhere ( sad to say people did - particularly bothersome on the heated loungers when there was only a handful of them ! I personally feel towels should be removed from key places when people ignore the signs and requests ).
When we first walked in - I felt a little underwhelmed that it wasn’t as big as some of the spas I’ve visited previously and wondered how we would fill several hours . We were there 6 hours - no treatments and could have easily spent another hour there .
That moment of being underwhelmed certainly did not last although a nice garden with greenery could be a welcome addition if it could be worked on ( not sure space would allow it )!
The outside jacuzzis were lovely . We loved the big fire pit for a cocktail . My favourite was the scented steam room and serenity pool which was so peaceful . The water had a lovely scent to it .
The big jacuzzi pool inside was very powerful - probably our least favourite part . We loved the pool which was refreshing for a swim .
We peeped upstairs , in Bertram’s .menu lovely and food looked great but we settled for tapas .
The tapas came extremely quickly . Only a handful of things on the tapas menu but it pretty much covered everything and the portions were excellent . 4 tapas for 2 people worked well and was beautifully presented . The plastic “glasses “ worked well from a safety point of view. We thought the whole day flowed beautifully .
The spa is within the most beautiful hotel and we had a thoroughly indulgent weekend . I can’t wait to recommend to friends and colleagues as I was recommended here too and sincerely hope to return .

It would have been a big fat 5 star from me if it wasn't for a major boo boo that happened after my stay. However the issue was resolved quite promptly. They said the member of staff in question was reprimanded and I was reimbursed so I only deducted 1 star as I really loved my stay. I visited the spa and stayed the night with my friend. The whole stay from start to finish was near enough perfect. The service we received was very good and each member of staff made a real effort. Hannah in the changing rooms was very helpful, Lesley who drove the golf cart was friendly and made an effort and Joe our evening server was lovely too. I was super impressed with the spa facilities, and think we spent a relaxing 6 hours there in total! The only slight negative was people reserving loungers in the serenity part which I found unfair. As well as the spa I'd say the food is the other main highlight as everything I ate at lunch and during the evening meal was 10 out of 10 and I cannot fault it. Breakfast was more than adequate too, there weren't any vegetarian sausages out but perhaps they might have made some if I'd asked. The room was very comfy too. The room temperature was rather hot but not sure what could be done about that. Overall I had such a fantastic stay and I was really excited about the prospect of going back again in the future. I'll try not to be put off after the issue I encountered afterwards as I was satisfied with the outcome of how it was dealt with. It was Paula who sorted it out for me.

Hi not been before so Just wondering if anyone knows if they serve cocktails like pornstar Martinis at the outside terrace as only could see online they do Prosecco kinda ones ? Also for lunch is it just the terrace or Bertram’s I saw the lounge menu online that looked nice but if you had to walk over to it with your robes on guessing it wouldn’t be ideal ? Thanks

Sorry for the late response. All details regarding spa packages can be found on the website. If you search for the woodland spa you’ll find a link to their website - can’t seem o add a link here
Not sure if you book accommodation you get access to the spa. I suggest you give them a call and ask

It was very cold outside today but the hot tubs were lovely and warm, you just needed to get your shoulders under water. The pool felt cool as you got in but it was lovely, honestly! Perhaps as it goes dark the temperature of the hot tubs should be a little higher.

When I booked my break, I called in to book and have a look round but I live only an hour away. Not so easy to do when you live a distance. I would recommend giving them a call with plenty of notice because it does get booked in advance at weekends especially.

Hi just booked an overnight spa treat for me and my bf. It's his birthday, has anyone arranged with the hotel balloons etc? Does the hotel provide a complimentary in room happy birthday treat?
Also our package includes breakfast, two treatments and dinner. Is the dinner a 3 course each, and to what limit? They haven't explained.
Also does our deal include lunch?
Many thanks, Katie
