You’ll have read all you need already, so just book a day out and go there! Even with limited water they are wonderful and be sure you go to all three bits, especially (in my view) the lower falls.

Highly recommend checking out the walking route on a website that can be found by searching gps routes which gives you a circular walk that brings you to the bottom of the falls and if agile enough (and there's not too much water) you can clamber all the way up the falls. We would also highly recommend having cake in the cafe. The cookie I had was the best ever and my husband had a flapjack that was warmed and was delicious.

Lovely sunny day and lovely walk to the middle and lower falls. So much to see, birds to watch in a tranquil setting.

We turned up into the car park unsure as to where the falls were. Seeing our hesitation, we were approached by Keith and Simon, who explained the routes and provided a wealth of background information. Both Keith and Simon are excellent ambassadors for the National Trust with their very friendly, informative and welcoming ways. It’s the first time we have visited a National Trust site and found it a really good experience. It was magical walking through the wooded areas and hearing the concert of bird song. If you’re in the area it’s a must place to visit.

Thank you for your lovely review. Keith and Simon are volunteers for the Yorkshire Dales National Park and do a sterling job advising our visitors. We are really happy to hear you enjoyed your visit so much. Please note we are a National Park and not the National Trust. Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again soon.

Revisited the falls after 30 years and guess what - they are still stunning especially on a sunny day to give those spectacular highlights on the tumbling water. We initially parked in the first car park we came to (NCP?) but realised it was not the visitor centre we were looking for. So we did an about turn and went down the hill looking for the visitor centre - glad we did. Nice parking area, good facilities including cafe and toilets and central to all three falls. We decided to do the Aysgarth falls walk which starts off with the middle falls followed by the lower falls before if goes cross country to Bolton Castle - a circular walk of about 6 miles but we’ll worth the effort. Great scenery enroute and the Castle is also a delight - very interesting with important history. Then on our return we did the upper falls as a short detour from the car park. A longish day but given sunny weather you will not get better scenery if you tried!

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit and did eventually park in the National Park Visitor Centre car park which gives easier access to the waterfalls and provides toilet and cafe facilities. We thank you for visiting Aysgarth Falls and hope to see you again soon.

Such a beautiful waterfall to visit. We parked in the car park at the top of the hill (think it was NCP) and walked down the hill to the falls. You can access the falls via a gate near the bridge and a short walk on a nature path.
Lovely place to just sit and admire the view for a while - or if feeling more adventurous then some beautiful walks in the area.

Oh I do wish you had called into the Visitor Centre as I think you may have missed the middle and lower falls access to which is a delightful walk through Freeholders Wood. We are pleased, however, that you did enjoy your visit and hopefully will return at some point. If you do you could park in Aysgarth Falls Visitor Centre car park which gives easier access to all three waterfalls. We also provide toilet facilities and the Visitor Centre and Coppice Cafe are open 10.00 - 5.00 seven days a week until the end of October. Thank you for visiting.

I visited here three times recently during a visit to the area. The first time was in the evening, after a stroll across the beautiful wild flower meadows from Carperby. I sat with a picnic supper at one of the tables at the Upper Falls.
The next day I walked across from Carperby again, this time, the Visitor Centre was open, so I went in for a cup of tea, and chatted to the very friendly staff there. Then I walked to the middle and lower falls, and then over to Castle Bolton and back across the fields to Carperby. A perfect day!
Then I met up with my daughter and her husband, and visited the Falls again with them. They did not disappoint.
I most probably will be back!

This time, we visited later in the day than we have previously and so the Visitor Centre was not open but we still used the car park adjacent to it the most convenient parking for reaching the falls. When we have visited it previously, we have enjoyed it.
As it was off season, the area was quiet and we hardly saw anyone else. Walking in the dappled light of the woods with only the bird song and running water as accompaniment was magical.
The falls are by no means the steepest in the world but they are beautiful and the walk between them is not a difficult one although people with certain mobility issues would find it difficult to get some viewing spots.
It is possible to follow a a route up to Bolton Castle but it is worth realising that it is a fairly steep rise.

What time does the falls open? I noticed online the visitor centre opens at 10am, could we visit before that or is it gated?

There is a gate but didn't see if it was locked , maybe check online or drop them an email before going , if you are parkingxat the visitor centre it does get busy and when we were there they had to close it as it was full.

Is this suitable for someone in a wheelchair ? We obviously can’t take a massive walk but could we maybe see the falls from a wheelchair access point?

Bellerby, UK40 bidrag
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. The middle falls are accessible to those using a wheelchair. You will then be able to continue through Freeholders Wood, which is very pretty at the moment with the Spring flowers, but you will not be able to access the lower falls due to a number of steps. If you do decide to visit Aysgarth Falls please call into the Visitor Centre where the staff will be able to advise you. Please also make sure you park your car at Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre as this gives easier access to the middle falls and disabled parking bays are available. Parking is £2.50 for two hours but visitors with a blue badge have three hours. Hope you enjoy your visit.

The Star Inn in leyburn.
Very dog friendly & gourmet food as well.
Not too far from the falls & it has the advantage of being on the edge of an interesting village.

Hello, I would like to visit with my 18 month old and Labrador, are the paths pram friendly or would I need a baby carrier?
Richard de G
Weybridge, UK747 bidrag
The dogs fine, but use the baby carrier the paths have gradients and rocks that make getting anywhere with a pram difficult. Enjoy the trip it's a great place to visit
