The cafe and toilets at the beginning are quirky with a moody ole lady serving. She probably isn’t that bad but in contrast with everyone else in Yorkshire she’s not overly friendly. Peppermint biscuit cake was delicious though. You drive behind the pub to a pot holes car park to start. Have to go into the cafe to get to the path and pay. Lovely little riverside walk with cute bridges to the main event. All one level and 10 minutes. Waterfall was stunning even got to see a rainbow. Well worth the money and visit.

Fairly impressive waterfall - it is £4 per person for a few minutes on the short walk (though you can sit on picnic tables etc).
There's the yellow flat walk to the falls, and the path continues behind the falls though the signs say not to go behind.
I tried the green path which goes above the falls. Its a bit longer, but still you can blast it in 10 minutes or so. But if you are expecting elevated views of the falls then you may be disappointed - you get glimpses through the trees rather than a clean view. I'd say the green path isn't a must-do.

Visited HARDRAW FORCE WATERFALL yesterday - beautiful! WORTH GOING. 40 minutes' walk from Hawes. Cafe and loo at pay place are ok. Needs 2 benches close to Falls, though you can sit (uncomfortably) on rocks on path near Falls. Historical/ geological info would also be nice. And please fix dodgy gravel path after pay place: visitors could fall down slope. WALK ALONG SIDE OF HIGHER PATH to avoid falling. (Entrance fee should cover all these... as well as excellent maintenance of site ...!) But still go, and linger over your visit. Lovely.

We parked on the road outside. Privately owned it costs £4 to go in butis worth every penny. We took the easy walk and the views were stunning

Beautiful and easily accessible waterfall.
Parking is limited, we’ve managed to park along the road. Clean toilets on site.
Plenty of space for kids to run about before once gets to slippery path next to river bed.
Longer/green path is very steep up and down but if you are able it’s well worth it!
I walk with baby in a sling carrier.
Stunning views and area.

Rainy day in the dales so why not get wetter. Two trails...one high one low. High one was quite hard work and only presented a short stretch of the falls as they fell away. Lower one got you up close with plenty of spots for pictures. Stones could be a bit slippy.
Visit topped off by nice cuppa in the visitor centre which was decked out like someone's front room.

The woman at the till was extremely rude. We were trying to explain that out of a party of eight we had various concessions - she got very impatient and snapped at us. Not good for customer relations. We felt like turning around and leaving.
The tickets are overpriced - go to other, prettier falls in the area which are free. It is expensive considering they provide nothing for your money ( mother nature does that). I appreciate that a non-stop trail of visitors has an impact on pathways etc. and that these need to be maintained, but £4 per person is a rip off considering the time spent there. There was one picnic table on the grass and that was rotten.

This was a disappointment. Unlike sall the other waterfalls in the Dales this one carried a charge of £4 per adult. A 10 minute walk there, a couple of minutes looking and 10 minutes back. Not good value and a bit officious in the office. It was OK but Aysgarth Falls and the ones at Keld far better.

Unfortunately never got to see the falls. Arrived to find it was £4 pp (kids under 5 are free). Decided we’d wait for the rest of our party to join us by grabbing a coffee in the ‘tea room’. We had 2 dogs with us who barked at someone who spoke to them. We weren’t even allowed to reach an empty table before the lady behind the counter told us to leave - noisy dogs are not allowed, shame the sign didn’t state this. At first we believed her to be joking (2 small dogs bark but settle once seated!) but no, she didn’t want us to even have a chance. It’s a shame as 6 adults and 3 kids would’ve spent a fair bit on coffee/cake and then would’ve gone to the falls after. Instead we left and paddled in the stream.
Toilets are free on site but smelt and no lighting. A half bonus I guess! A bit of work is needed on the lady’s customer service skills as it’s a shame to lose families and groups with dogs - there are better ways to ask people to keep their dogs quiet!

Didn't plan on this hike but it was a perfect stopping point on our drive across the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A nice break from our long drive from the Lake District over to York. Fun walk through pastures with cute bleating sheep everywhere to get to the falls. It is a loop hike, but we did an out-and-back to cut down on time. Hike is level. Private access, but just a few pounds. Could be muddy if rainy. Worth a stop if you are in the area and need a break.

Have you posted the question in the right place? I can’t imagine there will be here
Skrevet 2. oktober 2023
Hello,
I would like to photograph the falls in the evening, when the light is low; can I arrive at 4:45pm or closer to 5pm and still be allowed access? I was wondering if the last admission is earlier, given that it closes at 5pm.
Many thanks,
Rob.

Hi Rob
That will be fine. Just call me beforehand on 01969 667572 to make sure I will be there after 5.

Hi,
Does anybody know how far the falls are in distance from the Green Dragon Inn ?
Is this easily accessible for an older person with relatively low stamina?
many thanks
Skrevet 7. mai 2018
It’s probably about 3 or 4 hundred metres - tops - I’ve taken my mother there and she thought it well worth the walk
Skrevet 8. mai 2018
Is there a good (but relatively short) walk to or from the waterfall or the Green Dragon Inn? Want to make an afternoon of it and walk a little further than between the pub and the waterfall
Skrevet 14. april 2017
After seeing Hardraw force come out of the Green Dragon pub and turn right. Walk to the stream. Locals walk along there. However, there is lots of walks in the area. Just follow your nose. Beautiful area.
Skrevet 15. april 2017
It would be accessible with care!
You would not be able to get as far up to the waterfall as others, as the nearer you get, the more rough and uneven the terrain.

Hi, I need to contact the owners, but the number on the website is not available and there is no e-mail address. Could someone give me a point in the right direction please?
Skrevet 20. juni 2016
the Green Dragon has changed hands. Try phoning the White Hart in Hawes. They will know.
