Great place for walking either around the lake or on the beach. True northumberland feel. They now have a lovely cafe there and its a great place for lunch or snacks.

I visited Druridge Bay Country Park with my family. The lake takes approximately 1 hour to walk round. There’s a cafe with inside and outside seating and outside children’s play area.
The park is well kept and tidy . There are a number of carparks. Free parking for 1 hour with Northumberland Parking Disk or can pay at machine.

Lovely country park - well maintained - good paths - suitable for disabled - excellent parking - avoid the cafe - sent my tea back the milk had lumps in - then later my friend bought a cup of tea and got my previous cup which had my lipstick left on it - gross! Take your own picnic !

I have been to Druridge regularly all my life 70+ years- in the middle btwn Cresswell end and Country Park end- but actually the National Trust part. So disappointing to see it deteriorate; there is often flytipping and lots of dog filth. Taking youngsters to the beach means picking your way carefully through the dog dirt in the dunes and then having to walk round to try to find a spot on the sand which is free from dog excrement. It is not the dogs' faults but the owners. I don't let the members of my family- my grandchildren - leave poo at the beach so why do dog owners feel they can leave dirt and plastic bags containing dog dirt?

Plenty of parking, £4 for the day. There is a play park and a cafe, as well as facilities to do paddle boarding and kayaking. A short signposted walk takes you to a doggy friendly beach, just be careful crossing the road.

I came here with my parents and sister for a lovely day during out holiday to Northumbria. We really enjoyed walking to the beach through the nature reserve, people watching and eating ice cream at the cafe and going kayaking on the lake. Fab day!

Amazing views, plenty of good sand not very busy, easy to find a private spot. Even when tide is in lots of sand still to play and sit on. Water quite shallow perfect for little ones to paddle and play in. Take some kind of shelter as there isn’t any natural shade. Good for walking and exploring the sand dunes. Parking £4 for the whole day. Cafe and toilets available ( toilets not very clean when we visited which was 4pm after a very busy day in summer school holidays). Play park very good, lots of new well maintained equipment.
Highly recommend for young families.

We live near the Country Park and although somewhat decimated by the winds of Storm Arwen it remains a lovely peaceful place to visit. Parking usually isn't a problem and there are a number of options available to the visitor. We love to walk around the lake with our dog and then have a picnic either near the lake or on the beach which is only yards away. There is an information centre and cafe (not always open so be prepared). It's a great place to relax and commune with nature.

Visited for a couple of hours as part of a day exploring this part of the coast. It is little visited compared to other parts of the Northumberland coastline, but hard to see why with miles of big sandy beach, dunes and masses of wild flowers.
When you arrive at the main visitors centre there is a cafe and facilities (the cafe closes at 16.30). Staff friendly and helpful - we were there mid-afternoon and enjoyed tea/herbal tea/ cake/ ice cream. The toilets stay open later and the car park isn't locked until dusk (10pm the day we were there). Its a Northumberland CC run centre and unlike nearby Hauxley they are not really able to advise you on where to see birds or what is around. They were doing a good job of keeping it clean, tidy and well managed at the visitors centre and around.
There are some picnic benches infront of the watersports lake by the visitors centre, the is a large lake with a path going around the edge. It is a pleasant spot, but if you are interested in wildlife it is worth walking towards the next lake which is more natural. Especially good in July are all the coastal wild flowers. There are several points where you can walk through to the coast. We were there at high tide, but even then there is an extensive sandy beach. You could easily spend a day here or use it as a point to do a longer walk along the coastal path.

What is the latest situation about the mining application at Druridge Bay? I do understand why the delay! First Brexit! Second the Coronavirus Pandemic! All of the usual campaign websites against the mining have been very quiet over recent months. Also very quiet in the local media as well recently, including local TV and Radio along with no news in any of the local newspapers in North East England. I’ve asked the same question in various wildlife and wild bird forums and again as of yet no reply. This is my last attempt to try to find out what is the latest news about this mining application and I hope someone will reply with an answer. Thanks!

Hi we are only in Northumberland for 4 days (staying about 20 minutes from here . Near Felton) is this Country Park "well worth a visit" or are there "better" walks nearby ? (Sorry that's kind of a vague question! But my mum can't walk too much, so want to make the most of her time here) thank you

There are lovely walks around the site, but it depends on her mobility. If she has a wheelchair, no problems.

Not only can the dogs go on the beach, but if you’re lucky you’ll have miles of it all to yourself.

It’s a very popular open water swimming location. I haven’t observed divers, but can’t see why not!
There is an information point in the at the toilets/cafe, staff there should be able to advise.
Is there a local bus from Newcastle upon tune to here and if there is what his number is it thank u
