Everywhere we went was very tidy with well kept and pot hole free roads. The beaches are beautiful and different than most others in the UK. Local people are very friendly and helpful. The number of places worth visiting is impressive. Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne on Holy Island, th Farne Islands and Alnwick Town and castle, plus many more.

Typical old seaside town. Lots of charity shops , tea rooms, kids play area a d crazy golf. Lots of shops if that's what you like. Trips by boat to see wildlife very busy. Nice costal walk to Bamburgh, nice beach, in town hasn't got a lot going for it.

Not entirely what we expected but we were there in May so not fully a “summer season.” Beautiful coastline cannot be denied but not really much around Seahouses if there for a longer period of time.

There was literally one gift shop open, the rest looked almost dead and derelict. Can't fault the gift shop that was open it stocked a lot of choices and was great, The staff were friendly and helpful. But Seahouses is far from what it used to be. Couldn't find a coffee shop open or even a fish shop that may have been ready to open soon. It used to be full of quaint little gift shops now it's full of newsagents and shops that are closed. The parking was great because there was virtually no one there in the past it's been hard to find parking. Stayed about 30 minutes then left. Very disappointed. If this is how it is mid school holidays I dread to think what it's like in the winter. I was snapped at when I tried to go into what looked like a small shop that seemed to be open light son, door propped open. The woman virtually screeched at me "We're closed, we don't open till 11, come back then" not even a polite comment literally a screech as if I was the dirt on her shoe. I soon walked out and definitely didn't return at 11.

Today we went to SeaHouses as in the past it has always been very busy, full of gift shops, fish & chip shops & a little museum, today on our way back from our holidays We decided to call into SeaHouses, We parked in the disable bay in the car park & had a walk over to what we thought was the tourist area to our surprise half the shops were closed the only shop that was open was one gift shop, one of the shops my wife went to as the door was open & the lights was on only to be shouted at that they did not open until 11am, damn right roude, the hole of SeaHouses looked dirty run down full of rubbish, this place has gone downhill dramatically, it needs something doing to it before they lose a hell of a lot of business, I for one will not be taking my family there again until they have sorted this place out, I was very disappointed on my visit.

We based ourselves in a holiday let overlooking Seahouses Harbour for a week to explore the area and were very satisfied with the overall visit. My wife particularly enjoys a stroll along a sandy beach and I’ve an interest in castles so there were plenty of places for us to visit.
Seahouses itself is a popular place for day-visitors, many drawn to the boat trips out to the Farne Islands (which we tried and would recommend); and to sit and have a fish supper overlooking the harbour. We didn’t try the latter but were surprised that people were not being bombed by the seagulls trying to steal their takeaways - perhaps the birds are naturally well-fed. There are a handful of places for visitors to eat and drink and at night we found it very peaceful with nice sunsets.
We explored further afield on foot to Beadnell, along the shore rather than the coastal road, and would recommend the sandy beaches for blowing the cobwebs away. Likewise we found many of the long sandy beaches along the coast fairly deserted - must be the North Sea breeze which puts people off lingering.
We didn’t have to travel inland to find plenty to do - and explored Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Lindisfarne Castle & The Holy Island and Warkworth Castle all of which were worth a visit. The settings for these properties were also an attraction, whether it was the wild coast at Dunstanburgh or the historic charm of Warkworth village.
Plan ahead and you’ll see plenty and even when we didn’t plan, it was a pleasant surprise to tour around very scenic landscapes. It’s a very attractive part of the country.
On the negative side we were disappointed at the number of places where Northumberland County Council had provided car parking for attractions - a good thing in itself - but overpriced this on their pre-payment meters. We found ourselves cutting short visits on a few occasions simply because the meter was running down. There are alternatives (if you research) but the easy option detracts from the objective of not impacting on locals by parking outside their doors or abandoning vehicles at the side of roads. More moderate parking charges would be a suggestion.

Part of the world that is unknown to most people. With places like Bamburgh, Almouth, and so many more. You are spoilt for choice of walks, castles, and rugged coastline.

This is one of the best coastlines and beaches I have ever been too. They are dog friendly. Clean and just really a welcoming feel from the locals. The rock pools are also fun. I would highly recommend going to this coastline

Even in March with the weather not as warm as we'd like our Northumberland coastal visit was wonderful. Beaches provided plenty of space to stroll along and views that certainly didn't disappoint.
Plenty of parking and nearby attractions and eateries.

Can you get down on to the beach from Seahouses centre/harbour? is it far?
Skrevet 15. oktober 2018
It’s a really short walk to the beach & the harbour from Seahouses centre. For the beach simply head on the footpath out of the centre towards Bamburgh and cut down the dunes path to the beach and walk for miles, if you want. 5-10 mins walk max. Or you could walk down the Main Street, grab F&C at Pinnacles and carry on past the Olde Ship Inn & Bamburgh Castle Hotel to sit on the seats overlooking the harbour and enjoy. Or vice versa and call in at the Olde Ship. The harbour is small but very picturesque with easy walking along the pier & maybe check out the RNLI centre. Also boat trips & bookings from the harbour. We often walk the beach from Bamburgh to Seahouses and enjoy F&Cs followed by a Coxon’s waffle cone. Your choice, any combination. There’s also some really good restaurants. Whilst you’re in the area check out the Apple Inn or the Apple Core at Lucker, the Potted Lobster or Mizen Head at Bamburgh or the White Swan at Warenford. Have a great time.

The coastline & the areas designated as outstanding natural beauty are free. Bring a decent pair of boots, a coat and just get out there. The paths are well marked and just go for it. Alnwick Garden tickets online, Boat trips from Seahouses again online search possibly Billy Shields, Bamburgh Castle, all the towns & villages are free. Check out Alnmouth, Holy Island, Craster, Dunstanburgh, Newton by the Sea, Longhoughton sands. Warkworth, Amble etc or head inland a bit. Northumberland is beautiful & varied however you want it & there’s some amazing cafes & restaurants if that’s your thing. Explore & enjoy.

Apart from the farne islands can you see puffins anywhere else in the seahouses area.
Skrevet 28. november 2017
I don’t think so they nest on the farnes

Hello, I want to find a great (and fairly quiet) campsite in Northumberland (the more dramatic the views, the better). Never been to that part of the country so all recommendations welcome! Near a dog-friendly pub would be a bonus but definately easy access to cliff/coastal walks. I want to avoid the sort of sites with clubhouses/entertainment provided. Thank you in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction :) Kelly

Beadnall bay - family stayed there with two dogs
Skrevet 30. januar 2017
Hi all
I'm really struggling to decide whether to stay at the Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh, or The Castle Inn in Seahouses. This is our first trip to Northumberland, so I don't know very much about either location. We will be taking a dog with us, so need to be near a beach. I'm also taking a husband, so need to be near a few pubs too! Please can anyone recommend which location/hotel would be better.
Huge thanks!
