We visited Birdworld today ( 22nd June 2022 ).
I’m a wheelchair user and even though we looked forward to our visit sadly it didn’t go well. Firstly the disabled toilets are regular size so I wasn’t able to sit down that low with the disabilities I have. So my husband had to help me “ hover “ holding me while I held one support handle on the right and my chair ( as no other handle on the left ) . No dignity at all, just a lot of pain and awkwardness.
Secondly the pavements in most of the areas are cracked, I say cracked but theses were large uneven broken pavements, some so badly it made it extremely painful to travel around Birdworld in a wheelchair.
Thirdly we couldn’t enter the cafe without having to get my chair over a large run that is used to open and close the doors. There is another way in we saw as we were in the cafe, sadly there’s no signs to guide wheelchair users to this door.( It’s takes you through the shop to the cafe. )
There are a lot of repetitive birds in different areas and the owl exhibit doesn’t have many owls in it. As for other birds of prey we hardly saw any.
Years ago there were far more of them than there are now.
On the plus side the seaside walk which leads to the flamingos was lovely. As was the Robben Island exhibit.
On the whole Birdworld looks very tired and needs a lot of work done to bring it up to a standard we consider safe and inclusive for disabled people.
By the time we left I was in considerable pain. Very sad as we were so looking forward to our visit.

My husband and I did enjoy our walk around Birdworld and there is a good variety to see however I would say that at £18.95 per adult and £14.95 per child it is a lot of money - we have 3 children who are now adults and don't come on such trips but if we had visited when they were younger it would have cost us as a family £82.75 - we strolled around with no hurry, read signs etc and it still took us less than an hour which is a lot for that amount of money - we did not watch any of the talks though.

Great day out, so many different birds that I had never seen before. We went to all of the different talks throughout the day, I'd highly recommend as they are so informative, the staff are clearly so passionate. Katrice was brilliant and carried on all the talks even when it was just us there (we went on a quiet Tuesday). Lots of different food and coffee stops, although we brought a packed lunch. We took our 7 month old who loved every minute and she enjoyed going in with the goats and chickens.
Highly recommend and would definitely go again, I think for the price you get so much out of it!

there is so much to see here so many cool different types of birds i’d never seen before and lots of information on the plaques next to each cage.
was very quiet for a saturday which was so nice i was expecting it to be packed!!
lots of signs warning guests of the avian flu outbreak.
and the cutest petting zoo at the back too!!
10/10 definitely recommend to anyone whether you have children or not! (i don’t!)

We visited last week as a family outing with four adults and two young children. The entrance, shop and cafe are all bright clean and very attractive. However, the revamp of the initial part of the park does not extend to the huge area containing the birds. It has a huge range of birds but Birdworld looks tired and struggling to maintain a bright, fresh atmosphere.
Some of the enclosures are fine and appropriate in size and environment for the birds they contain but some are really not nice. They were dull and uninteresting, looking in need of a complete ‘freshen up’/revitalisation.
The flamingo pond, sea shore area and penguin pool were really unpleasant. The water in these enclosure was horrible - green and, in some cases, looked stagnant. The penguins glass walled swimming area was green. Moreover, it was a hot day and the enclosure seemed not to offer a cool, shaded area for the beautiful creatures whose natural habitat is much cooler. It was disappointing and quite concerning.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the children enjoyed their day. Unfortunately, we will not be returning unless things for some the birds improve.

We just got back from a really lovely day here. So many species of Birds to see and hear. The staff were all
friendly and helpful and lots of places to buy drinks
and snacks. There was enough here to keep a 13 year old and a 6 year old busy especially doing the easter hunt The farm was brilliant bonus and the penguins were our favourite enclosure. We will definatley be back

It’s absolutely lovely here… we went and it was pretty much empty despite it being school holidays. They did an Easter hunt where you get an egg at the end, plus so much to see. Very very clean and friendly staff. Toilets etc clean and al well maintained

Loved walking round seeing awesome animals who seemed happy and cared for. I enjoyed learing about the criticly endangered spcies. I would love to have brought a guide book from the gift shop but they didn't have one (Suggestion do a guide book or souvenir guide) as I'd love to have picture of the birds and farm animals to keep. I recommend walking round twice so you don't miss any of the birds.

We had a super day out with our 2 Granddaughters at Birdworld. They really have some stunning birds there to look at (& listen to!) They all look really well cared for & the site itself if great for smaller children to burn off some energy. There are 3 play areas catering for different age-groups. We particularly loved the penguins, pelicans & of course the magnificent & beautiful owls. The Kookaburra gave us an amazing rendition of his unique call too.
I would say the entry prices are very expensive, although under-3's do get in for free, with one over 3, 1 concession & 1 adult it was about £50, chuck Food on + a couple of small gifts & petrol & we were up to nearly £100 for 5 hours.
I think next time we'll take a picnic to save money, tho the food there was good. There's plenty of picnic tables around the site to sit at & eat.
There was a lot of single-use plastic evident in the canteen/restaurant, which we thought was something that needed to be remedied, given that they are all about conservation & ecology. NT, WWT & RSPB would be good examples to follow with their plant-based single use items.
A lot of expensive tat on sale in the Gift shop, tho they do have things like bamboo products also. The hand-held water-games we opted for to keep the girls happy on the car journey home at £3.99/each pretty much self destructed in 20 minutes. We've let them know so they can be taken off the shelves hopefully.
Positives more than outweighed any minor gripes however & we will definitely take the girls back for another treat sometime in the near future.

I think Birdworld may be a covid casualty. It is now looking very tired and unloved.
Underwater world has closed and Jenny Wren Farm was full of empty ,boggy paddocks. We visited midweek and no petting sessions were offered and no Keeper talks ( but no price reduction).
Currently due to avian flu no walk through aviaries were open ( but no indication of this before we purchased tickets) .
There is less play equipment and the lovely little train has gone.
The birds look well cared for and the staff were pleasant.
