Great little cottage, furnished as it would have been in 1910. Packed full of fascinating items. Two lady volunteers very friendly and helpful showing many of the items and telling the story of the family who lived there. Entrance by a little path through a pretty cottage garden all adds to the lovely atmosphere of the place. Well worth a visit.

WE visited yesterday 24th July having seen it advertised on signs around Petworth. We were very glad we made the effort to go as it's packed with history and artefacts in respect of the woman and her family who once lived there and you can really sense what life was like in the early 1900s.The two ladies who showed us around made the tour interesting with their knowledge of those who once lived there and the house itself and the little cottage garden full of flowers was the icing on the cake.

So pleased I found other reviews as this was not listed in the Petworth Guide. Cracking little museum, depicting life circa 1910 complete with gas lanterns and a working cast iron range. The stewards were very informative giving us a detailed tour of the cottage with its history and family links. So much to see in such a tiny space! Worth the £5 entry fee. Enjoy!!

Superb little museum showing life just as it was at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. Lots of little details to got lest in. It may be small, but you could spend ages here

We knocked on the back door and were welcomed by a very kind and knowledgeable elderly gentleman who showed us the small house from the cellar to the attick. He could tell the history of any object in the cottage, along with the broader history of Petworth. Entering the bedroom was almost like intruding into someone"s privacy, it looked so real. This really is a gem, especially after visiting Petworth House.

We passed by on Saturday morning but saw that it was only open 2pm-4.30pm so we went back after lunch. We were really glad we did as it was full of period pieces with a fascinating history. We were shown around by the Chairman and Treasurer of the Trust who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Well woth a visit.

Only open in the afternoon so nearly missed it but so glad we went back. The cottage was owned by the estate and housed one of the workers. The contents have all been donated,a lot given by the people of Petworth. The staff there were so knowledgable. It is very small and to see everything you have to go up and down narrow, steep stairs so not suitable for everyone

This estate house has been returned to its original state and shows what life was like for Mrs Cummings. As it is an old house, there isn’t a lot of space but it’s certainly packed with artefacts such as washing dolly and mangle that shows how times and lives have moved on. I have been on a school visit here and the children were amazed with how people used to live without the luxurie we have now. It is well worth a visit to see an insight of Petworth’s rich history. It is in town so not out of your way with a lovely tearoom on your way to or from the museum.
