We have not been here for some time, so were disappointed by the cafe. It used to provide hot lunches such as baked potatoes etc. Now we could only get different types of sandwiches heated. The tea was in nice pottery but only 1.5 small cups & not very tasty. Their cooler display unit made a lot of noise. However the other facilities in the nature walk areas had improved a lot.
Next time we will take our own food & tea.

This rspb is half way on a circular walk of 6 miles from our house which takes you through beautiful woods, over fields and streams and though the wonderful Parham estate. On this November day we were looking forward to some hot soup or a bacon roll for lunch but alas no such luck! All the fresh sandwiches, quiches, bacon rolls etc have gone and now just pre packed sandwiches etc on offer. The sandwiches are not local and the two we chose were absolutely tasteless. I agree with plumb67 that it was very disappointing. In future I would only consider a hot drink. What a shame as we have been going for years. It’s such a lovely spot to make the most of….such a pity this has happened.

We have been walking the annual Fungi Trail here at Wiggonholt for some years - this year it was exceptional. A longer walk than usual, but so many different varieties all labelled up. In addition wanted to look at a special Bird book on Surrey and Sussex Birds - but could not see it on the shelves.

We have just been to your cafe what a disappointment, no soup or jacket potatoes, just a large fridge with pre packed food it was like something from a motor service, what happened to the board you used to up with soup of the day , panini, jacket potatoes ect , it’s a shame that it has gone downhill over the last year, no wonder it’s empty

I visited 21st August and felt disappointed that the cafe has limited its selection of food and it’s all packaged stuff. But was more sad that work is being done on the reserve and the lakes have been drained. I especially came to view the wetland area and didn’t see anywhere that work was taking place. Even the land behind the cafe was empty of life probably due to the labour that was taking place. Some of it noisy. I appreciate that the work has to be done but it would be helpful if it had been advertised somewhere and some signage put up. I would have been prepared and could have made an informed choice as to whether to spend my one day off here.
I generally love the reserve so hoping that my next visit will feel more positive.

Pulborough Brooks is a great spot to see (and hear) the rich wildlife of the area. It is interesting, varied but not challenging countryside to walk around. The visitors centre and cafe have lovely views across the valley and on to the Downs.
We visited for an hour late morning, before leaving and looking around nearby Parham House, returning at 5pm.... Although the visitors centre closes, the reserve is open until dusk. Then it was really magical, we were serenaded by a nightingale....and got many good views of other wildlife including deer, dragonflies and an adder. They are fine as long as you don't intrude on their personal space. We got far better views of wildlife, and much better value for money than our visit to Knepp the same week.
The red - wetlands route has four bird hides and is about two miles long, taking about a couple of hours to look around. As well as wetland, it includes areas of woodland, useful shade on a hot day.
On the practical side - the toilets are only open till 5pm when the centre closes. The cafe is in a very pleasant spot, but had limited vegetarian and no vegan choices the day we visited. The paths were all easy to walk around and well maintained, despite the wet conditions earlier in the month.

Great place for a day out
There are several Hides to go to and watch the local and visiting birdlife..
Each of the Hides are connected by lovely well laid out paths that are easy to navigate.
The shop and café are well laid outwith helpful staff
It was that good we joined the RSPB!

A wonderful morning at Pulborough Brooks RSPB. We hadn't left the car park and there was a nightingale singing. The landscape is varied with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. Lots of information about what can be seen and heard but not too many visitors. We saw and heard lots of birds, and the wildflowers were great. We also saw a baby toad and various invertebrates. A great shop selling RSPB products and we enjoyed our lunch at the cafe. Following the circuit round it took a few hours and we loved it!

Pulborough Brooks is a large country area of woods, lakes and opportunities to see lots of birds. The birds can be heard all over the area. It is run by RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds).
Paid car parking is available but it gets very busy early on.
There are routes around the area but they can be difficult to follow without a map. Free maps are available at the cash desk.
Around the routes there are a few huts in which to hide and view birds, although they can be quite far away. Everywhere there are sounds of birds in the trees.
Many different types of trees, plants and flowers are available. All of these are available to photograph. Lots of drawings and text are available which tell you the names and information.
There is a shop which offers lots of bird and animal based books and products. A cafe and toilets are available on site but only a very small availability of food was on offer.

Sorry, only just picked up your question. We have two nature trails on the reserve. You are very welcome to bring your dogs along with you for a walk on our wooded heathland trail. There is a public footpath that runs through this area and we have created some permissive paths where you can walk to make a circular walk. We do of course ask that dogs are kept under control at all times and on a lead in certain areas where we graze livestock or are managed for vulnerable ground-nesting birds. You can also enjoy a cup of tea and cake on our tea terrace (there is both a covered area and an open area) which has lovely views. We do not allow dogs on our wetland trail to minimize disturbance to sensitive wildlife.
Hope the info helps.
