What a lovely isolated and rugged place. The lighthouse and cottages are in great order and the little museum is very informative. BUT who would want to live there for 26 years?? What did the first lighthouse keeper do that was so much worse than the convicts to get 26 years in a remote cold spot?? More importantly what did his wife and children do to deserve that??
Highly Recommended.
Very spectacular scenery and worth the long drive to see it.
Has great toilets But there is a price to pay. A very smelly long drop!

Our day tour stopped here to hike to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse. The trail to the lighthouse is on a reasonably steep incline but at the end offers a great overview of the area. We were lucky to see an endemic bird that lives in the area, the scarlet robin.

We had purchased our Parks Pass online before and had received our car sticker & pass. We didn’t see anyone purchase a pass at the entrance (clearly signed) and none of the cars up at the lighthouse appeared to have passer, maybe it’s not policed?
Anyway, the views from the lookout (about halfway to the lighthouse) and from up at the lighthouse site itself were stunning. Pay the $15 to climb to the top of the lighthouse if you want, but you don’t need to, to enjoy the views.
Perhaps if more people purchase a Parks Pass they would have some funds to improve the road!

The roads are through uncleared bush, whilst the shorelines vary from long sandy beaches to towering ancient dolorite cliffs. Monument rock, south of Adventure Bay is accompanied with dozens of natural caves.

Some nice walks -mwe did Adventure Bay's Grassy Point walk (easy, with some interesting signs to read about the former whaling stations there), and a 2 hour circuit from Jetty Beach through coastal vegetation and secluded beaches.
Penguins were fun to sea, and the views from the lighthouse sight were very good.

We did the grassy point walk. Approx 1 hr return. Very relaxing walk. Easy walk. Great views of the water all along.

We were truly impressed. We saw some of this park from the sea, and some of it from the land. Truly magnificent. The view from Cape Bruny lighthouse was spectacular, but very very windy. I think we caught the roaring 40s. The view from the powerboat, of sea caves and rugged cliffs was equally inspiring. Love this place and its rugged beauty.

Nice walk of 1 hour (return). Suitable for kids. What is great is to have during the walk the sea at one side and the forest at the other side.

Great place for a bush walk (Luggaboine Circuit Walking Track for us - about 1 hour) or for a swim in the crystal clear waters. Much of the road is gravel but well worth the effort.

Had a great visit to the light house today only to come back to the car to find a failure to display parks pass ticket. we had paid it on line before we left assuming parks staff would have the technology to know this by our rego number apparently not!! You need to find a printer or write it on a scrap of paper. As a local tasmania this is so embarrassing for our tourist trade.

Hi, is it possible to drive to bruny island from
Horbat? Is there a car ferry over ? From
Where and where can I get the tickets from?
Yes, you can drive. To Bruny. You have to drive down for m Hobart to a little town called Kettering. There is a kiosk there where you purchased your tickets on arrival. The ferry runs often, no need to book ahead.
