Absolutely fantastic to see if you like history and stepping back in time. The video on the Archer family was very informative and well worth the time to watch. Such an amazing family. Thank you.

What a find! And dog friendly too.
Stayed a night in the Old Farm Cottage which has been so sensitively restored and renovated - wonderful ambience.
It was comfortable with all necessary conveniences leaving as much original detail as possible.
Exquisite fenced rear garden (with a beautiful little church!) was perfect for our dog to wander in.
So peaceful. Lovely host.
Can’t wait to return to spend more time and explore the farm and walks.

We had a fantastic visit learning about the history of Brickenden and Woolmers. We got to feed all the animals as well as look through the historic buildings. The Archer family and staff at Brickenden were so lovely and we are already looking to return and stay. Highly recommended

Someone recommended we visit Brickendon on our recent trip to Tasmania and I’m so glad they did. It was fascinating to walk around and see the convict built buildings and discover the history. We did briefly visit the garden as well, but being winter, there was not as much to see. Will have to head back down sometime in spring. Really enjoyed our visit!

We saw all of the buildings in the village quite quickly as there was not a whole lot to stop and look at, but still enjoyable. The main house and gardens are just beautiful!

What a wonderful experience, the history alone of the 7th. generation owners and operators is amazing, and all the historic convict building, many still in use. Saw sheep shearing and walked the to the beautiful river bordering the property.
Well worth a visit friendly hosts make you welcome and comfortable
The walk to the associated "Woolmers" was also great with lovely gardens and historic buildings. Woolmers was "commercial" and lacking warmth.

Tick tock... my week in Tasmania was drawing to a close... tick tock... I made the decision that the last village to explore would be Longford... tick tock... I arrived to look around the Village... it's beautiful...very old world... tick tock... I don't want to miss a thing.

I checked the things to do in the area on the TripAdvisor App and found this Colonial Farm Village... following the signs in town I was easily able to navigate there. There is oodles of car parking on arrival and there are signs to explain what it's all about. If you have doubts you can still wander in and buy a cool drink or something from the gift store and go no further. But what a shame if that's all you do.

The lady at the desk was really helpful... I explained my predicament of being time constrained. We laughed when we realised she was on the same flight as me but she intended on leaving Longford an hour after me. I had a hire car to return... and she was local.

I paid my entrance fee, was given a map and it was suggested that I watch a video about the story behind this working farm. It was quite fascinating and gave a great background for you... sadly I had to cut it short because... tick tock... I was running out of time. I walked through the buildings, stopping to take photos and occasionally read an information board. It really is quite beautiful. I understand the families attachment to the property.

Tick tock... time was against me... but this was an incredible choice to do on my way out of the state. I only wish I had more time... who knows, I might be lucky enough to get back in the future.

Tick tock... my time was drawing to an end...but oh what a wonderful end. This Farm Village is fascinating.

I never knew how old Tasmania was and I love learning more about the history of it. The place is a must for history buffs. Brickendon is still a working farm and still in the same family, which is very impressive.

We thoroughly enjoyed looking around Brickendon, and getting a sense of the history of the place. we hadn't realised previously that it was open to visitors. We did the recommended walk from Brickendon to Woolmers, where we we very disappointed by the lack of signage and facilities.

Bird droppings everywhere, including on the bed inside the original Archer cottage. Dead possum in the shearing shed. Cats eating birds. Lights not working.
All in all for a $14 entry fee the cleanliness was well below par.
