The Natural Bridge Loop Trail in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest is a must stop and must hike. This short and easy 2.4-mile round trip hike offers a great experience as the Rogue River disappears into a lava tube, forming a natural bridge. The trail is well-maintained, with informative signs about the area's geology, flora, and fauna. Towering Douglas firs, hemlocks, and pines provide shade, enhancing to the hike's appeal. Proximity to Joseph H. Stewart State Recreation Area and Crater Lake National Park makes this trail a convenient and rewarding stop while in the area

I got some amazing pictures and video from this location. The majesty of Divine creation can be felt here, despite being right near the bridge. Not a spot for someone terrified of heights, but definitely worth the view if you can muster the courage!

You can see how lava and trees can carve the gorge.
It wasn't planned, but when i saw gorge in the map, i know i should go there.

The "Natural Bridge" is a large lava tube through which the Rogue River flows under the surface for a short ways after being seen above ground prior to and just after this lava rock formation from its headwaters downstream to Crater Lake. This is an easy 30 - 35 minute hike round trip from the parking lot that can be extended if you want to take one of the longer trails off this main one. It came highly recommended to us as a good stop between Medford and Crater Lake on Highway 62, and we found it to have beautiful views both going and coming back on the nicely paved path. It was so interesting to see how this lave rock had formed and allowed water to flow freely through. Good signs along the pathway also! Well worth a visit, and soooo easy to do!

A short hike from the parking lot takes you to view an incredible natural phenomenon, where the Rogue River drops into a Lava Tube and pops up about 20 yards down stream. This creates an area where you someone could walk across a "Natural Bridge" (actually fenced off so you can't actually walk on it).

A short easy hike over a bridge to a point where the rushing river disappears underground and reappears 200' downriver. Level walking trail. Quiet except for the rushing river. Beautiful nature.

Driving along this heavily wooded section of Hwy.62, you tend to focus on getting somewhere. But before you continue on to Crater Lake, you should stop here and see another Natural Wonder.
First of all, this Natural Bridge is nothing like the arid, soaring ones at Moab Utah. This bridge is much more down to earth. Originally, it was a Lava Tube that was eventually taken over by the Rogue River. And the river still flows through it. It is a very impressive sight.
Out on the Highway, there are several signs that let you know that you have arrived and that you need to turn onto the paved entry road. It is about half a mile to the parking area, which has an passable restroom.
There is a paved pathway through the forest that leads to the Natural Bridge. It is not very smooth and if there is a wheelchair in your group, take your time and watch where you are going.
There are plenty of photo ops along the trail and signs along the way that explain just what you are looking at.
I highly recommend this stop. And bring your camera/phone.

What a great little walk. That leads you through the volcanic lava flows and or the Rogue River comes out and beautiful waterfalls. Even in the winter I have walked parked on the side of the road and walked around the gate and walk down to the path. it’s beautiful!

There is a campground near the day use area. I am not sure if there is special RV parking for the day use; but you could probably overlap several parking spots, or perhaps park on the road. That is my best answer, hope it helps.

Hi, when I map this on mapquest, it shows a 3.5 mile drive once you turn off of Hwy 62. The reviews mention this as a quick stop on Hwy 62. Just wanting to make sure I'm in the right area. Thanks!

The parking lot is pretty close to the highway. More like 0.25 mile rather than 3.5. This one is easy to do as a very quick stop.

Is this an activity that has a lot of walking or hiking? I am traveling with a spunky 95 year old but don't know if this is too much of a hike.

This is what I would rate as an easy walk or stroll through the woods. It is all level with a very slight incline, if at all. It starts at a paved parking lot with bathroom facilities and there is an information kiosk nearby. All of the walk is paved, A sturdy bridge that looks like it could handle a truck, crosses the river.

Yes it is. If you like to walk, you can follow the Upper Rogue Trail to the left just before the footbridge to Natural Bridge as you walk from the parking lot. Two miles or so later you will see a trail going down towards the water through the woods. It overlooks a fabulous gorge on the river. Another mile takes you to Woodruff Bridge and 2 more to Tekelma Gorge. You can pick the return distance best for you.

I'm visiting the area and not sure where it is. Is there an address how to get there?
Skrevet 9. april 2015
the attraction location has been updated recently and now points to the correct location near Union Creek off highway 62.
(instead of being located in Medford, which is where the TripAdvisor map pin was located)
