During our most recent stay at Carlisle, we knew we had to stop at the Trout Gallery. In previous visits, it has always had excellent exhibits by provocative artists, and this visit did not disappoint.

Evan Summer's etchings and drawings in Remnants of the Future were fascinating and reminded us of Micheal Heizer's giant sculpture at the Glenstone Museum. Edward Burtinsky's photographs in Water are mind-opening, informative, and beautiful.

Since this was the summer, we had the gallery all to ourselves. A wonderful experience!

The woven baskets by Shan Goshorn were simply beautiful with poignant meaning to each in tribute to the Native American Students who passed through the Carlisle school. Highly recommend the exhibit.

This is the Dickinson College art gallery. The highlight here are the rotating guest exhibitions, which change every few months, though there's a permanent collection as well.

A small gallery run by Dickinson College. One of the two shows we saw was student curated. Both shows were worth the visit - beautiful and thought provoking. Current shows are the photographs of Lalla Essaydi and Lida Moser. Definitely worth going

The Trout Gallery truly is a gem at Dickinson. They bring in top-notch exhibitions, and present programming that is relevant, meaningful, and fun. Took a school group there for a tour and activity, and my students were so excited about their experience there. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth checking out!

My wife took my son and myself to the trout gallery in Carlisle to get a little culture. When I saw the name I was hoping I wasn’t going to be looking at a bunch of fish art. I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice collection of native displays. My son enjoyed the displays very much

This was our second visit to Carlisle, and our second stop at the Trout Gallery. We were not disappointed. This is a very small gallery with limited exhibits, but as in the previous visit it was both well organized and very interesting. Well worth the visit. The first thing we noticed once inside the gallery was a marvelous photograph by a Moroccan artist.

Next were five haunting prints from the Peasant War series by KÄTHE KOLLWITZ.

Finally, downstairs, we saw MUYBRIDGE & CURTIS: The Great Photographic Projects of the Gilded Age. Photography as a tool of documentation in the natural and social sciences. Muybridge & Curtis considers the two vast photographic projects of the day: Eadweard Muybridge’s Animal Locomotion: An Electro Photographic Investigation of Connective Phases of Animal Movements (1887) and Edward S. Curtis’s The North American Indian, Being a Series of Volumes Picturing and Describing The Indians of the United States and Alaska (1907–1930).

Explanations throughout the exhibits are insightful and very well written.
