Wow - I knew Pearl S. Buck was an author but I didn’t know about ALL her humanitarian endeavors! Today I learned just a bit about her life and wow!!! She was a phenomenal outspoken woman for human rights - all humans! An advocate for the mental impaired, adoption, women’s rights, education of children, racial equality and I’m sure I’m missing some more! What an inspiration! Her home a National Historic Landmark and is right here in Bucks County! I am embarrassed that I have lived here my whole life and was never here! I went on a cold dreary day but the house tour was awesome - festival of tees was going on so the whole house was decorated. Visitor center was extremely informative. Definitely will be back to see the grounds on a nicer day! Plan to bring family and friends as well! What a local treasure! Thank you Jenna Worrell of Visit Bucks County for hosting the Fall Group Tour Committee Meeting at Pearl S. Buck.

If this is your first time here, wear comfortable shoes. Be prepared to walk up and down the steps in the house. Photography is allowed. No flash. Do not touch anything in the house including the silk rugs. Be prepared for the weather, as you pay at the Visitor’s Center. The AAA discount exists here. A docent leads the tour. The gift shop is nice. Bathrooms exist in more than one spot.

What I liked about this home and tour is similar to what I said about Falling Water in that, you get to see a lot of the home. Yes, some areas are roped off and you are asked not to walk on the rugs on the main floor but that is because these are historic pieces. A visitor feels welcomed and steeped in the life story of Pearl S. Buck. We took a docent led tour and it was very enjoyable. Didn't walk much around the grounds as it was very cold.

We visited for a family wedding, the grounds were immaculate, there was plenty a open space but small enough to feel like home. The Wedding team did an outstanding job especially Rachelle.

The volunteer that provided our tour taught us so much about this amazing woman. The time spent touring the house and garden area made for a terrific visit. Would not interest young children. Highly recommended.

The tour and presentation greatly exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be pleasant and informative, but it was truly beautiful and fascinating. The docent was gracious and amazingly knowledgeable, answering a wide variety of questions as well as giving the regular tour.

Whether you are a Pearl S. Buck aficionado, have only read (or seen the movie) The Good Earth, or have little to no idea who she was, you will find plenty to fascinate and impress. The house is very much as it was when Buck lived there with her family, and you get a real sense of how she lived — an interesting mix of rural farmer, intellectual, humanitarian, and jet setter. There are many amazing pieces from her time in China. You can see the desk and typewriter she used to write The Good Earth. You can see the Steinway piano that Oscar Hammerstein played when he came to visit. You can stroll around the lovely grounds and admire the flowers. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

This lovely home , grounds , and final resting place of theNobel prize winning author is a fitting tribute to her life and legacy. The collection of personal effects include her typewriter. The tour docent is very knowledgeable and engaging.A must for literary lovers and gardeners alike.

It's been many years since I have visited the Pearl S. Buck House. I was there this past week for a special event I was invited to by an Ambassador of the foundation. It was a wonderful time. Before the tour we visited the gift shop. This is a must do in my opinion. They have beautiful quality merchandise at reasonable prices. Check out the beautiful stained glass window panels there from Pearl's house when she lived in Philly.

The house tour is amazing. Everything in it belonged to Pearl. I was impressed with her copies of Charles Dickens books which she loved so much that she asked to have them placed on her bed as she was dying. The library also contains her desk and chair and the typewriter she used to write, The Good Earth. So many beautiful touches in the house and the grounds are outstanding.
