First off, this is a great Hall, and great place to see a concert. I saw two over one weekend. The volunteer staff are friendly and helpful. The acoustics are great. The hall needs a major restoration (not renovation). But they have an amazing selection of diverse acts. The library is classic, if a little worn. If your so inclined, they do have a limited bar on the other side of the building. Simple snacks (chips, candy bars, soda, water) are sold at a table in the lobby. They'll usually be selling chances on a nicely framed poster of the night's event (to support the theatre's upkeep). The two important caveats: There is no parking lot, but if you arrive early enough, you can park on-street in the surrounding residential streets. Early enough, right in front. You're only about two blocks from a rather run-down area with parking as well. The second problem is the hard-back wooden seats. Narrow, and you may find them uncomfortable by the end of the night. If you have a seat cushion (as you might use at a sporting event), I'd seriously suggest you bring it. These problems wouldn't prevent me from returning for a show I wanted to see. ADA note: The Mens Room is in the basement, however, they've just installed a brand new elevator to reach it, and the balcony level. If steps to the venue are a problem, you don't have to walk up the (many) front steps, go to the left side of the building to walk up the drive, or park on a back street and walk around from that higher level to front from the right of the building

I did not know what to expect from Puddles..I was pleasantly amused.
I have been to the Xarnegie about 5 other times for national acts and I love the venue.
The only drawback are the tiny uncomfortable wooden theater seats.
I realize they add to the charm and are probably original to the refurbished theater, but they could use padding.
There is not a bad seat in the house and even the on street parking is not hard to find.
I really like shows in this theater,my butt does not.

My two daughters and I went to see Jonathan Van Ness (the hairdresser from Queer Eye) speak. While he was a delight, the venue was not. Due to what I assume are bars to prevent people from tumbling from the aisle over the balcony (and how this keeps people in the front row from tumbling, I don't know), the view from our seats was completely obstructed. (Our seats were Left Balcony B 8,9,10.) We were not alerted to this at the time of purchase. Also, the woman in front of me was sitting in a seat that had a broken back. Through no fault of her own, her wooden seat back rested (along with her body weight) on my knees. Further, while it was a comfortable evening in early April, the unairconditioned hall was sweltering.

It is an old building so there are not a lot of creature comforts, seats are small and hard. Not a lot of room between rows either. Shows in the summer it can get really warm in the theater. But it has a lot of charm and the venue is intimate.

It's a beautiful historic building with the option for a variety of uses. Of course it's a library that has everything you would expect to find in one. But it also has a pool! And the intimate concert hall where we experienced Three Dog Night. A small venue where there is a good view from almost all of the seats and decent acoustics. The volunteers that staff it are friendly and helpful. The only negative I can say is that I wish the seats had some padding and the parking is on the street so you need to come early. All in all it was a great experience and I will definitely go back for other events.

After watching season three of RuPaul‘s Drag Race, Trixie Mattel, who was the season 3 winner, came to Pittsburgh and we got tickets. We purchased the meet and great package which granted us early entrance and a photo opportunity. Venue was nice and had tons of charm. We enjoyed the bar which was through the library & the offstreet parking wasn’t bad. The bathroom options could be upgraded as well as additional bathrooms installed.

My husband and I went to see Tom Segura yesterday (his show was amaze!) anyway the venue is pretty cool though set up a little strange. Dress was casual. They had a bar set up. Seats are very close to each other and uncomfortable but we could see the stage very well from the balcony. They did rush us out after since he had another show which meant waiting for our Uber in the cold but that is understandable.

This venue is historical and is now the new home of many different artist, singers, comedians, plays and shows. Very affordable and in a neighborhood where I gre up. It's a must to come here and visit a concert or anything showing here. Absolutely beautiful.

We were here to see a comedy show. It was a bit different in that when you entered, you could either go directly into the theater, or go though the actual library to a room they had set up to sell beer, wine, and mixed drinks. You could take your drink with you, but only if you purchased there $10 commemorative travel cup.
The theater itself was beautiful. What you might expect of something built by a billionaire of that era.
Like I said in the title, parking is a problem. There's none except for what you can get on the streets. If you know Pittsburgh, the streets run straight up and down so unless you get there early, expect an uphill walk either coming or going.
