Great views from the War memorial, bit uphill to get there from the Car Park but it’s definitely worth it, panoramic views over to the Pennines & Peak District, Manchester City Centre, Fiddler’s Ferry power station in Widnes (whilst it still stands!) Great playground for the kids too ;)

RUBBISH DUMP!
Potentially a nice place but forgotten by Oldham Council. Rubbish everywhere, bags of dog poo strewn all over and paths of mud to walk on.

Fabulous views all round from the memorial. Many different walking paths, ideal in the pandemic as people can be well spread out.

Normally, they have a cafe open which is very welcome (probably closed at this time) but very good for a nice hot cuppa.

The weather has picked up,i hate walking in the rain,so after setting off from Chadderton,I'd decided on Tandle Hills.
It takes me just over an hour of walking to get there, from Royton, Rochdale road looks so long, then you turn onto Tandle Hill road & that's another long walk,it may have been cold, but by now i've warmed up.
Reaching the gates,my final goal was the monument up at the top, this looks out all across Oldham,Rochdale,Manchester & a far, especially on a good clear day.(this wasn't one)
Then it's only one way & that's down,i took the steps, careful when wet, when you reach the bottom, still a few different ways to go.
On this occasion while i was heading back,i had two deer run out in front of me,i never knew they were up there..
Making my way back, plenty of others walking & using the park.
There is a cafe, with outdoor seating, but today it was closed, take your own it's probably cheaper..
Overall at this current time it's a place to let your problems & thoughts blow in the breeze.

Nice family walk on a Sunday afternoon.

Nothing too much for the kids and it was good fun to get out for a couple of hours.

Parking no issue and the walks are easy enough to follow.

Great for access- parking is easy as you could hope for. The paths are all paved and no massive steep routes. If you want to go wandering through the woods you can do without issue.

Lovely cafe to get a tea or sandwich and a small park next to it. Also a large slide which is always popular with the kids.

Further down the hill is another park which is wooden bridges and other wooden obstacles to overcome and climb on.

It’s nice and simple. Lovely open space, rarely too busy and even when it is- there is still room for everyone to have their own little space too have a picnic and relax.

A lovely, expansive park at the edge of Royton, Oldham.
A nice cafe and loads of trees for the children to climb.
What's not to love?

Still the school holidays, still not quite sure where to go or what to do with the kids, then get them out, into the fresh air & walk.
I had my two daughters, one friend & the dog,it was a nice warm day,but nice to be out of the house.
We found a space on the main road to park, didn't bother with the carpark, guessing it'd be busy.
The park looked busy, but we didn't bother with the cafe of park equipment/slide,just headed down hill to follow one of the trails,we chose blue, following the path under the trees, keeping us cool, coming out up at the top,by the monument, what a great viewing point, especially on a clear day,our day was a little hazy but great never the less.
A little tricky on the way back down, heavy rainfall the night before had washed some soil away down onto the steps, not much of a problem,we just took it easy,a change onto the green trail brought us back towards the cafe area again & back,i think the kids were pleased, as it was getting a little bit warm..
Overall a great place to stretch your legs &, take in some great view.

Have lived within walking distance of this park for many years now, and never tire of it. Some lovely trails to follow through the beech woods, great play area for kids with a massive slide, nice little cafe but remember to take cash. Some beautiful views of the surrounding area from the top too.
