If you have any interest in the saints of the Catholic Church - this is a must see. So many relics, so little time. It would have been nice to have a docent there to point things out.

市内の他の壮麗な教会に比べるとこじんまりして、豪華というわけではありません。その分、落ち着ける教会でとてもよかったです。

We visited this chapel to see the thorn from Jesus’ crown and when we arrived we were greeted by someone in the chapel. We told him we saw the crown in Paris and were interested in seeing the thorn. He said that they had it in the chapel and then talked for about 45 minutes about all of their relics. He ended his tour with telling us that the thorn was in a glass vial on a high shelf behind the railing at the front of the chapel and if you lean on the railing you may be able to glimpse it. I unfortunately could not see the thorn because it was too high up. I wish that he would have said in the beginning that it isn’t available to see instead of leading us on for 45 minutes.

We really enjoyed visiting the chapel. It was our first time. It is much larger than we thought. And absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed learning it’s history and seeing so many of the artifacts. Hard to believe there are so many in one place. We told our family and friends about it any many plan on visiting it soon. We also look forward to visiting it again. Such a treasure for Pittsburgh.

Such a beautiful catholic church form the outside and inside.
If you are catholic and in the neighborhood stop in. You won't be disappointed. You have a friend in Jesus.

I came as a personal pilgrimage. The church opens promptly at 1 and not before. A tad dusty, which takes a bit of the sparkle out of the experience. The number and presentations of saintly relics is overwhelming. I felt like the air I breathed in there was full of the Holy Spirit. Disappointed that there are no more books about the chapel, because you are prohibited from taking photos. I don’t understand why ppl with dslr/smartphones are prohibited as no further light would add to light damage. If you cannot buy the book and you can’t take pictures......???? Grumble. Your spirit can not help but be lifted at the presence of thousands of the church’s heroes and heroines. Be there for the 1 pm tour then use the rest of the time to just soak in the atmosphere.

Gift shop is a bit full of religious items easily obtained by any Christian bookstore. Not to sound too mercenary, but why not have reverently made 3rd class relics? Spread the religious “wealth.”

Catholic or not, it is an experience that will be forever in your mind. So, so glad I pinched and saved to come here.

St. Anthony's Chapel in Pittsburgh is a special place. it has more sacred Catholic relics that anywhere else except Rome. It's awe inspiring. I've been to Rome many times and this site is on a par with many churches and chapels there. A must see if you're in or visiting Pittsburgh.

Saint Anthony's Chapel, it's history and relics are nothing short of amazing. Even though it is quite off the beaten path, it is well worth the time and effort to visit. The uniqueness and authenticity of the relics are unparalleled outside the Vatican, and the atmosphere is quiet and venerable. The life-sized wood carvings of the Stations of the Cross are exquisite. Do take the guided tour; you will be given a wealth of information about the acquisition, age and diversity of the relics by pleasant and knowledgeable guides. There is also a religious gift store across the street from the chapel, as well as parking both on and off the street. The chapel from the front requires that you climb a few short steps, as does the gift shop. You would be wise to use a GPS to both get you there and return, as the local streets tend to be a bit of a maze.

This has the largest collection of saint relics outside the Vatican, which was not a big interest to me, but the lifesize Stations of the Cross, the intricacy of many of the relegaries, and the history of Fr. Mollenkoff (?) and this Deutschtown section of Pittsburgh made stop worthwhile. I'm sure it would appeal to any Catholic with a devotion to the saints.

Unique is a word that has largely lost its meaning due to frequent casual use. St. Anthony’s Chapel is truly out of this world, with the largest collection of relics of martyrs and saints outside of the Vatican. Nearly 4,000 relics are found in the chapel’s collection, including those most recently canonized by the Church. Walking in can be a bit overwhelming given the shear numbers. Friendly guides are present to help you locate that specific Saint, perhaps the one you were named after or one to which you are seeking their intercession. There is a quiet atmosphere for those desiring to spend some quiet time in prayer. Life size figures of the Stations of the Cross, imported from Germany are beautiful. If you are in the area on Good Friday, you should plan to attend the evening tenabre service.
