Attended a concert in the lobby last night. The performers were great but the acoustics were not very good and for those that actually had a seat, the chairs were hard and very uncomfortable. Also, electronic tickets didn’t work so we had to go to the box office to get a paper ticket.

I have seen several shows here the last few years and enjoyed each. Johnny Mathas put on a nice performance in July. This venue has plenty to offer the community, including shows for all ages.

This place is great! There are really no bad seats. The theater isn't huge, so where every you sit you will be able to see the show with no issues!

Over the years I’ve seen everyone from the Violent Femmes to the Northeast Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerry Seinfeld and local high school graduations. There is not a bad seat in the place and the acoustics are excellent. Parking is easy and restaurant/bar choices for before or after the show are pretty good.

Lyle Lovett was great, the venue was nice, the price fair.
What is not made available when purchasing a ticket is that the Kirby Center provides your personal information for a time share company to contact you to try and sell you a time share. The call tells you how lucky you are, that you have been picked for a weekend stay, etc., etc. for having gone to the Kirby Center. After the first call from the time share I told the time share company to remove my information from their records, I was not interested and not to call again.
Next I called the Kirby Center and was informed, yes indeed, your information is provided to the time share company and that information is provided to you on your ticket. Consequently, you don't know when you purchase the ticket, it is after the ticket arrives in the mail that you are to read the fine print to basically learn that your privacy has been invaded. I informed that Kirby Center represenative that I did not want my information given out to sales companies and the represenative told me they would remove that information.
The second call today from the time share company is the reason why I am on trip advisor writing this review. Clearly my information is still out there because once again it was the time share company telling me how lucky I am for having visited the Kirby Center - at which time I told them that I am not interested, to remove my information from their records and not call back.
Then, again, I called the Kirby Center and wanted to speak with someone in Administration. I was given the voicemail of the director of development where I left my message about how I don't appreciate their selling my information, wanting my personal information off of their database and left my number for a call back.
Absolutely unacceptable practice to be selling their customers information when purchasing a ticket to their venue - without letting their customers know.

Great venue in the heart of downtown! Classic theater recently renovated. Beverages served in the lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient parking garage across street, $5 for events.

Good show, very good acoustics, not a bad seat in the house. The center itself needs more bathrooms on main floor for those who can't walk the stairs.

There is a parking lot within walking distance & some street parking nearby. I've been going to shows here for over 40 years & have never felt uncomfortable walking to it from the parking area. There used to be a parking garage a couple blocks away. Haven't used it in quite a while. not sure it's still there. It was called Park 'N' Lock.
Does the Kirby Center have food? Going to concert with kids and wondered what they had and how prices were?

I remember that you can buy beverages. I don't really recall food. We ate at Rodano's prior to our show. My suggestion if you want dinner prior to the show, go early!! Our show was at 8 p.m. so we got to the restaurant at 5:30. By 6:15, there was no available seating. It filled up quick. I would imagine that applies to the other local restaurants as well.

I have never been to the Kirby. I am reading that the area by the theater is high crime. Can anyone give me some insight? We are seniors and our son bought us very expensive tickets to an upcoming performance.

We frequent the Kirby and have never felt threatened.(we are seniors too) This area is populated during an event. As the above reviews said, the police station is a block away, parking is close, as well as several restaurants, in the immediate area. There is a hotel within walking distance. Go and enjoy the show!
