Plopped down in the middle of town where there isn’t much green grass, this was a nice oasis in the midst of concrete. Nice open grassy area to sit and enjoy your coffee

it seemed safe even though there were some street people in the area. Nothing alarming. Nice open area that you walk through to other scenic areas of Charleston.

Large open area with lots going on and surrounded by a large open air market. Lots going on and plenty of people pursuing the various stalls or just chilling in the perfectly maintained grass area.

Hotel was on the square and we found it clean, safe feeling. Added bonus was daily art and crafting festival with local and other artists presenting a variety of painted art. Unexpectedly we found police presence there every night with a cruiser parked in obvious sight and even though we never felt any sort of threat, I know it was a deterrent.
So much fun to see kids and dogs playing in the open spaces.

We were staying at the Embassy Suites hotel that is next to this park area.
It has a lovely fountain at the corner of King St. And Calhoun St. with cute animal sculptures.
The park perimeter is lined with plenty of trees for shade.
We saw a lot of people taking advantage of the space during lunch time on a business day.

While in the day times hours it looks beautiful and all the motels and restaurants around it how ever if the tourists was to sit at night and try to take in the lights they would find that it is infested with rats and these are some vicious ones they will run up on u with no fear the city needs to address and take care of this before someone gets bit from one no telling the disease they carry

Our hotel was located on the square and we were so excited to see the lights each night and go to the farmers market on Saturday & Sunday! We could walk from our room, but the parking right at the square is minimal (though garages are nearby). Lots of sports, picnics & kids running around on a sunny weekend.

Green space on the north end of the historic district. Good place to hang out if you’re a student at the College of Charleston or are homeless. Not overly interesting place. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit except if you want to check out the previously mentioned Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.

Today, when you stroll through Marion Square in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina, you admire the statues and monuments and 6 1/2 acres of green space that once served as a parade ground and now is home to a weekly farmers market and various food and wine, art and music festivals. But did you know it also was the site of the worst American defeat in the Revolutionary War, where British troops crossed the Ashley River north of Charleston and attacked American defenses in the area of Marion Square? Bounded by Calhoun Street on the south, Meeting Street on the east, Tobacco Street to the north and King Street on the west, the square is operated as a public park. It is a favorite gathering place for College of Charleston students, whose campus is located nearby, and features a memorial to the Holocaust, an obelisk dedicated to Civil War general Wade Hampton. Jointly owned by the Washington Light Infantry and the Sumter Guards, they have prevented city officials from paving the park as a parking lot and developing the park as a shopping center.

This is a nice park in the center of town. The north and west sides bordered by hotels with one a high end property. The Saturday am farmers market is good with produce, spices, jewelry and much more.
By night I would avoid other that the area closest to hotels. Witnessed the start of a fight between skateboarder and homeless person. The city needs to clean this up.
