What a wonderful venue! We attended a concert by Leonid and Friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had gotten great seats on the 5th row to the right. The show was phenomenal and it was a great place for them to play, as it is not a huge concert venue. It felt cozy and the sound was amazing. We were surprised that my husband had to leave his pocket knife at the box office to be retrieved later. Unfortunately we forgot about it when we left the concert. When we realized it almost an hour later, my husband ran back to see if someone was still there so he could get it back. (It was a very sentimental piece given to him by our son and we were the the next morning.) He was able to get someone there to let him in to see if he could get it back. One person couldn’t help him but went to get someone else. That person was able to get it for him. They didn’t have to do that. They could have said sorry come back in the morning, but they didn’t and we really appreciated that. Just wanted to give them a shout out for going above and beyond for us.

So there we were, all geared up for a night of swingin' nostalgia with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the fine folks who brought us such musical hits like "Little Brown Jug" and "In the Mood." Luckily, I had wrangled some tickets in the nosebleed section of the Charleston Music Hall.
As we began to ascend the staircase to our Himalayan like section, we eyed the lobby bar with a longing glance that Dry January forbade us from indulging. Once seated, the diverse crowd caught our attention. A mix of AARP veterans and hipster couples, wearing attire that could be described as a cross between Country Club Casual and Walmart Chic – all set to revel in the bygone era of big bands.
The pre-show entertainment, slides projected on a screen over the stage, announced upcoming acts ranging from obscure CW acts to 50th Anniversary Tours, assorted cover bands and finally, musicals "Direct from London's West End!"
The pièce de résistance? A slide advertising the "North Face Mountain Film on Tour" at the "CHARELSTON" Music Hall. Yep, you read that right!
The lights dimmed, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, not quite the 23-piece ensemble you see in old YouTube videos, strutted on stage. Clad in matching Hertz Rental Car Red blazers, the 14-member strong crew meant business – or at least, a jazzy kind of business.
The bandleader, sporting a non-matching blue suit, delivered his obligatory "Welcome to the show" spiel, bemoaning the lack of hands raised when he asked who had seen the Glenn Miller Orchestra before. The crowd response was akin to crickets, but the show must go on.
The band, an experienced crew of musos, hailing from Maine to Alaska to Tokyo, then launched into their greatest hits set. Some members even took a swing at vocals, with the politically incorrect lyrics of "Chattanooga Choo Choo" getting a modern makeover - "Pardon me Boy" became "Pardon me There". Glenn Miller probably spins in his grave at the bottom of the English Channel, every time they sing it.
The band's chanteuse, a pretty girl with a great voice by the name of Jenny, (as well as being the band's social media director) sang "Dreamland" from her debut album - a terrific tune, that nicely complemented the evening's set.
Just before the intermission, the audience was encouraged to visit the merch table, with its t-shirts, CDs, and a book about "LIFE ON THE BUS." For a split second, I wondered if this title would be more entertaining than Led Zeppelin's "Hammer of the Gods" classic. Nah!
Returning after the break, the bandleader admitted to forgetting his instrument's neck strap offstage, disappearing for an entire song. Checking his email for a response from Celebrity Cruise's HR department?
What struck me, though, was the sight of sheet music on the musicians' stands, considering these tunes were a good 80 years old, and the band could play them in their sleep. Maybe there were stage directions – "Look interested to be here," "Smile to the audience," or "Order Doordash for the bus ride to Savannah."
No matter what, it was a swell show in a cozy venue with cushy seats, amiable staff, and acoustics that did justice to the classics. All in all, a night of toe-tapping tunes and "We'll Beat the Nazis" style nostalgia.

We saw the Commodores kick off their 2024 tour with friends. They did an EXCELLENT- job. My tickets were 3 rows from the front and we were able to interact with the performers. The seats are sloped so that if a tall person is in front, you can still see. Very nice and clean theatre. Not too large so you can have in intimate experience. Parking is ample- both behind the event and a block away.

We saw the Charleston Christmas Special, which was amazing. Would highly recommend. The cast was probably one of the most talented I had ever seen at a variety show. Their voices were terrific combined with the dancing made for a terrific show. The little girl and boy were just a joy to watch. I hate to single anyone out because every cast member was show-stopping. How Great Thou Art brought tears to my eyes. I cannot quit raving about this show.

The music hall was easy to get to. There was plenty of parking close by in the garage. There was a generous amount of seating, but not too much. The bathroom was clean.
The seating was comfortable. I would recommend a viewing here.
Our seats were section G, row 3 seats 2,3,and 4. These were amazing seats. You could see clearly, no obstacles, no bright lights in your face, and they were close to an exit.

My daughter and I assisted Leonid & Friends (music group from Russia that features the music of Chicago and other similar bands) during their concert at the Music Hall. The venue is perfect for such an event and historic in nature. Be advised that parking is of a premium in the area. However, if the performers are worth it (as L&F certainly are), it is time well spent!

After 2 years of rescheduling due to covid, finally able to attend the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert. Very efficient procedures to get covid check, security check, and entry. Very friendly staff and an excellent concert. Kenny Wayne was incredible and special guest Ally Venable was amazing. Just a great experience.

Saw the Charleston Christmas show and had a great experience. Organized entry and vaccination/negative test requirements made me and my party feel very safe.

what kind of seating is available? Is it first come first serve?
Skrevet 4. april 2018
Anytime that we have seen a performance there, we have had reserved seats but there may be some performances that only have general admission which would then be first come first serve.

Hi, I would like to know if I would be able to see the stage in Section F and J?
I see it's stated as "limited view" could you explain this more for section F & J seats 1 through 6
Skrevet 27. august 2015
Hello,
Yes, of course. Those seats say limited view because they are located on the sides of the theater, therefor if there is any stage design you may not be able to see the whole thing. That being said, that are still great seats and are the closet you can get to the stage from the balcony. I personally really like those seats.
Hope this helped! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best,
Bonny & the Charleston Music Hall Team

Hello,
Yes! We are located right next to a Hampton Inn and it is very nice. There is also an Embassy Suites around the corner that is lovely as well.
Very best,

Thanks Bonny! Ended up getting 2 seats in row 1 of G for Jason Isbell in October, very excited.
Skrevet 12. august 2015
What are the most ideal choices of seats between the back rows on the floor and the back middle row on the balcony?
Skrevet 8. august 2015
Hi Jack,
That's really up to your personal preference of what angle you would like to see the show from. We are a small theater so there really is not a bad seat in the house. I personally would prefer the back middle row on the balcony.
Hope this was helpfully!
Very best,
Bonny & the Charleston Music Hall Team

which end of balcony rows are seats accessed from?
Skrevet 6. februar 2015
Access to H Section is on the right or left side just like in a movie theater. The same goes for the first two rows of G and I and the one row in Section F and J. The 3rd row of G and I is only accessible from the aisle next to the H section but it is only about 5 chairs deep.
