although a little on the pricey side, it is definately worth every penny to see the smiles and enjoyment the kids have every time we go there!
highly recomment for kids--maybe not for teens though

Our kids are younger, 2 and 4 so they had a blast running around looking at everything. Some really nice exhibits to keep them entertained and engaged. Some did seem slightly dated however and the price to get in was kinda steep.

Our children and grandchildren came into town for Thanksgiving and we thought the children's museum would be a great day trip. All of our grands are under the age of 10 and quite active so we thought this would be a great learning and activity experience. Wrong.
We are new to Columbia. We have lived here less than a year. Given the fact that Columbia is the capitol of South Carolina we assumed the museum would live up to the standards of a capital city. Wrong.
My husband and I have lived in many, many, many places as well as traveled to many, many, many places...ranging from Hawaii to Alaska to Australia, South America, Caribbean, England, Europe, Canada, East coast to West Coast and all points in between and this museum has to be one of the worst we have ever been to!! No hyperbole...this place was a huge disappointment to say the least.
From the minute you walk in the door the entire place spoke mediocrity...and this is so unnecessary! So much potential and it just falls so very short.
There were hardly any employees around and the ones that were there were unfriendly and aloof and looked like they wanted to be anywhere but at the museum. The atmosphere was not conducive to children's fun and curiosity. The whole of the interior was drab, worn and dirty!! Most of the exhibits were tired and unimaginative...they were down right dull.
The layout is cramped and small...the place just looked sad and in disrepair...in need of much TLC...an entire revamping would do it some good and in turn would serve the children of the community so much more!!
The few exhibits that were there were run down...the kids liked the Market Place and the Fire Engine, but beyond that not much else held their attention.
I'm sure when this museum first opened it was probably a big deal, but now, it's just not worth the cost of going. We were a family of 6 adults and 4 children and one toddler and it cost us $116.00 for what took us all of an hour and 45 minutes, if that...a total waste of money and time.
We left and we apologized to our family for the discouraging experience. They were so gracious and tried to make us feel better, but we all agreed the museum failed.
Columbia could and should do much better than this...the capital of a state should stand as it's shining star and set the tone and example for the entire state...based on this museum alone, Columbia gets a failing grade...but, what we have seen of Columbia in the short time that we have lived here really dove-tails with this museum...disappointing and void of much hope that things will get better anytime soon...I feel sorry for the children of Columbia...they deserve much better.

This 2 floor museum was very disappointing, 11$ for children, 13$ for adults. Ed, the boy you can go through his body, is very difficult for adults to access. My 4 y/ o is not old enough to go by himself. That is their big exhibit.A lot of. The activities were canceled. Their was one activity for the 1 -4 was a non show for the instructor. No staff around. Only staff. To take the 24$!

Lots for the kids to do. Very interactive. Make your reservation - they close to clean after shifts.

We come here on a regular basis. However this last visit was so disappointing! First of all the entire facility was dirty. While we understand that it is hard to keep a place like this clean, it seemed like some of the areas (especially around the big kid slide) hadn’t been properly cleaned in weeks. There are a lot of cool things for children to do if they work but things were broken or missing or not staffed. One can only hope that it will go back to the exciting, fun, and clean place it used to be...

Edventure was a great place to take our 18month old granddaughter to on a very hot day in SC. She had room to run and be safe and lots of interesting objects to engage and intersect with while learning at the same time. Highly recommend a visit. It’s a bit pricey but was with the several hours we spent there.

If your expecting to go there and learn something it's best you go somewhere else! I have been afrw times. When I go to a museum I expect for my daughter to learn how things work or came about allow me to help her learn. While she is entertained I want to learn something myself. If I wanted her to go to a playground that's where I would have taken her!

We had a great time at this museum. There was plenty to do for both of our kids at different ages. Take advantage of the outdoor spaces as well, with tricycles and gardening. If we lived in the area I would definitely get a pass.

EdVenture is an educational museum to introduce young children to museums and libraries. EdVenture cleverly cobbles fun, adventure and learning all together. We need more museums like these and Discovery place in Columbia

Would a 16-month-old enjoy it here?
Thanks!
