Finally, after years of driving past it on Long Point Road, I had the chance to actually golf at Snee Farm.
The clubhouse is crammed between a practice range and some newer homes, like it's stuck in a bad game of Tetris. Apparently, there used to be a grand circular driveway, but that got sold off years ago.
After checking in and snagging our cart—complete with zero GPS units, because who needs modern conveniences?—we made our way to the practice range. And wow, what a treat that was. Without a doubt, the worst
"private club" range we've ever encountered.
Grass? What grass? My front lawn is greener (and that's saying a lot folks!).
There were signs warning not to exceed 240 yards—presumably because you’d bean the homeowner on the other side of the chain link separating his house with the range. On the upside, the balls were in decent shape. Kudos for that, I suppose.
As we made our way to the first tee, we were greeted by a starter so friendly and informative you’d think we were at a family reunion rather than a golf course.
Now, onto the course itself: mostly flat and unimaginative, with a couple of picturesque holes that could almost distract you from the monotony of the rest. The fairways are as wide and forgiving as a mother with low expectations—losing a ball here is probably a good indication that you should take up a new hobby. The bunkers are well-maintained but look like they’ve been put on a diet; they're shallow and offer zero challenge.
Then there are the greens—good condition, sure, but slower than a dial-up connection. After two holes, we found ourselves aiming a few feet past the pin, just to get a semblance of speed.
By the end of our round, we both agreed: Snee Farm might brand itself as a “private club,” but it’s really just a slightly above-average Lowcountry public course, sandwiched between aging homes, with a barren practice range and a clubhouse awkwardly wedged into its lot.

For a country club I found it to be a very easy setup. I understand they have improvements taking place but I didn’t find it well kept nor a challenge. Typical country club setup.

The Hungry Detective had a great day of golf with friends at Snee Farm. It was a wonderful round of winter golf. Great staff and members who are always smiling.
VERDICT: Guilty of as sin when it comes to making your golf experience first class!!!
