Relaxing hike through the woods and pastures, and a beautiful display of Native American history. Abundance of wild flowers, herbs and animals. Crossed paths with a deer twice!

Great place to walk on trails and enjoy some fresh air. When it is open, the inside area that gives a history of the people who first settled there is neat. Most people around here are not aware that other tribes lived in this area before being driven out by the Lakota. The scenery outside is beautiful, it is a great place for the outdoor photographer. My son and daughter have both entered 4H photography from here. You could spend several hours exploring this site.

This area provides a great variety of hiking terrain. There are open prairie, light forest, hilly inclines, and gradual slopes. The scenic overlooks with informational signage are great and there's always a map posted along the way to help you get around. Great place to spend a few hours. The visitor center hasn't been open due to the pandemic but the restrooms are open.

Anyone looking for good hiking near Sioux Falls should look no further than Good Earth State Park. With a nice new headquarters with clean bathrooms and good water through drinking fountains this State Park is a must in the Sioux Falls area.

This was our first visit and we took our dog. The grounds are impressive with a visitor center, ampha theater and picnic area that is covered. There is about 2.5 miles of hiking trails. Learning about the native American history in this area is fun and eye opening. We will definitely return and spend more time. I should mention the beauty of the natural landscape.

My wife and I go walking here weekly. It's often with our dogs and sometimes with our young daughter. I love to explore, yet I still haven't been on every single trail. We love the oak tree filled ravines. We know where to find the deer for viewing, and we love being able to escape the windy prairies by getting down to the river bottoms. The new visitor center with it's video and interactive museum on the rich local Native history is truly special. Whenever we have guests come to visit from out of town, we bring them here.
The naturalist and the volunteers are also extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
We live near Central Sioux Falls and this rural park is only 10 min from home.
This state park is definitely worth a visit.

Good Earth State Park is a National Historic Landmark and South Dakota's newest state park. Most importantly, it includes the Blood Run Site, which is significant for its history as a settlement for thousands of Native Americans. A new 11,000-square-foot visitor center features exhibits and programming which focuses on the cultural and historical significance of the Blood Run site, which was an important gathering place for seasonal ceremonies and a significant trading center for many tribal peoples from 1,300 to 1,700 AD. Located a few miles southeast of Sioux Falls, it straddles the Big Sioux River in Iowa and South Dakota. The site is a time capsule of indigenous culture, the largest Oneota cultural site discovered to date in the upper Midwest, one of the oldest sites of long-term human habitation in the United States. Good Earth State Park also has accessible hiking trails winding throughout the grounds with scenic overlooks scattered here and there, allowing visitors to enjoy nature at its finest by taking in sounds and sights of wildlife, the river and the beautiful landscape. Established in 2013, the park covers 588 acres and is open for year-round recreation.

Good to see that native Americans are getting the recognition they deserve in the midwest. Easy trails with great views and descriptions of local plant life. Combine this experience with Pipestone NM and tie the story together.

This park, close to the city, transports you far in space and time. Beautiful forest with views of the river, winding trails with both flat and incline sections. Lot's of wildlife. You feel a special connection to the Native Americans that lived and traded here for many centuries.
