We had a lovely visit to the Mills. A delightful tour guided by Gavin who told of his family's links to the Mills over several generations. Brunch at the cafe was absolutely lovely too. Highly recommended.

I had a tour that lasted about an hour, leading through the museum with lots of pieces that were used back then. The guide even showed how they were used. We then walked out where he put the water wheel into action before we headed towards the crop field where we walked into one of the mills. The other sadly wasn’t accessible during my visit, but we looked at it from the outside.
Afterwards we stopped by the café there, where we had soup and drinks. The coffee was good, the soup was sadly a bit bland, but it’s a nice café and obviously popular among the locals.

Our hiking group visited today and really enjoyed the Mill. It is a real jewel in the ‘Skerries Crown’. The visit was made particularly memorable by our guide Paddy - a man involved with the Mill Museum for over 35 years who is blessed with deep knowledge, enthusiasm, expert knowledge and a capacity to communicate in a modest style that has compelling impact. Attractive café on-site!

Visited the Mills in our Motorhome good parking,the farmers market was lovely and had lunch in the mill which was very good, just a lovely morning spent here and would recommend it

We went here for lunch with a group and it was very disappointing. The service was terrible, we waited ages for our food and some items were missing, No apologies but the waitress almost blamed us for their mistakes. She said there was only one person in the kitchen (not our fault) and she was very rude and grumpy. The food was disappointing also, brown bread not fresh. All in all this was my worst experience of eating out in a long time and I would advise everybody to avoid. They really need to get a better system going and menu too big.

Hi Bernadette, I understand your group thoroughly enjoyed their tour yesterday. I am very sorry that the Café let you down afterwards. Unfortunately we had no booking for your group at lunch time. Thank you for bringing it to my attention that items were missing and that someone was terribly rude, this is not the norm in the Watermill Café and completely unacceptable. Thank you for all your feedback which I assure you is being responded to. Our Café is very popular and renowned for value and a friendly atmosphere, once again I am sorry that this was not your experience.

So they have an outside area where you preorder your food in the lobby and go to your table. Beautiful hot summers day. We were the only two people in that area.
The floor hadn’t been swept and was littered with old chips and napkins, tables weren’t clean either.
Asked for ice for our drinks but the rude abrupt woman wasn’t moving from here chair and wanted me to go and fetch the ice from an upper floor where I’d have to queue.
When the food arrived the server had his thumbs in both plates of food, both their thumbs were covered in the dressing and they licked them once they placed the food in front of us. Somebody teach them how to carry plates and basic hygiene.
I’ve been here before and it’s a hit or miss by the looks of it.

I’ve been here a few times and it keeps getting better , the service is amazing, there are so many food options , the lady at the reception couldn’t be more helpful, all the staff are great . The community garden they are after starting is gorgeous and it just has a nice atmosphere

Came home from Belfast with my partner for a birthday treat and popped down to skerries mills for a nice lunch in the sunshine. The staff are unbelievably friendly and accommodating, cannot recommend this place enough the food is so well priced and gorgeous!
It’s affordable and the atmosphere is so warm and friendly.
I would recommend this spot to anyone around the local area for a nice day out with the family or even a bite to eat alone

Had a lovely visit here yesterday, staff were very friendly and we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Cafe, they also have a lovely gift shop and there is a nearby playground and pond with swans and ducks. Highly recommend a visit

Don't know about the mill tour, but would avoid the restaurant at the moment. Waited nearly an hour after ordering our meal with a very grumpy server. Sandwich missing part of order. When chips arrived first lot were still frozen!! Second lot were cold!! Finally got nice hot chips. Manager did her best, refunded our money and gave us free dessert. Seemingly new to Mills, would avoid until they bed in. I would never normally complain as hospitality not an easy job,but this wax beyond belief!!

You can walk to or park at the mills. You can walk around the two windmills, water mill and coffee shop for free. You certainly don't have to book and it's a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two. There is a guided tour where a guy takes visitors around the mills and relates the history. There is a charge for this, can't remember how much but it wasn't excessive. I don't know when the guided tours are put on but they probably have a website or e-mail address that would tell you. If you're visiting the area go see Ardgillan Castle in Balbgiggan too.
