This is little village is stunning, Portmeirion, a little village in Minffordd North Wales. It was designed and built by welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the style of an Italian village. Portmeirion took around 50 years to complete
You will find beautiful coloured homes, some of these which you can rent. The architecture is unreal.
You can visit the village and the beach, this village also has a trail you can walk along into the woodlands where you will stumble across Japanese garden and pet cemetery.
There isn’t much food options here, there is couple of little cafes offering food and drink but the options are limited. I recommend taking a picnic.
There is a small admission fee too and plenty of parking available.

We visited because of the no dog policy. It was lovely just to be able to walk around without having to listen to irritating incessant barking, without intrusion of personal space and without being jumped on while trying to mind our own business. There was no dog mess to dodge anywhere. We walked in the woodland, to the beach and through the quirky village. It was quiet and relaxing, we will be returning.

The wife had heard of this venue, I hadn't, so was sceptical when she described it as "a mini Italian village" that i needed to pay £20 for us to see.
As with many things in marriage, she was right, I was wrong.
Feelings of Epcot it's obviously not Italy, it's obviously one man's vision and I personally thought it was a unique find and an excellent experience that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Helped by the sun making an appearance, we walked through and down to the lighthouse, took photos, explored little extras, paid a reasonable £2.50 for a pot of tea and then walked back listening to kids playing in the water feature whilst we explored the shops.
The views across the bay are stunning. The atmosphere is slow, calm and friendly.
The venue is 3 hours from our house, which we would never have driven just for this, but being in the area, I'm so glad we visited. Can imagine it's less appealing if it's raining and you have to get a big family in and fed, but for the wife and I in the sun? Excellent.

Interesting place to spend a few hours . My husband and I enjoyed exploring The Village and nearby woodland walks. I’d recommend visiting Portmeirion to anyone visiting North Wales. It’s something unique to see, and the scenery is amazing.

After a 5 hour trip and paying a lot of premium money for the Penthouse at Portmeirion castle, it was a bit of a let down and sadly over priced. I've visited similar castles in wales for less and they have been far superior. It was my birthday on St Davids day, and yes the food was excellent, and the staff very polite and efficient, however the castle Penthouse with 1 ply tissue you could put your hand through, and teaspoons you could bend in half like tin foil, with towels that were thin and sub standard, it's a bit of a let down. It is the small touches that impress people especially if prices are high. In the room everything had a price on it and the wine was £28.00! where down in the village it was just £10.00 same bottle. Price tags were on the umberellas etc...it just all seemed about money and a little vulgar. The bathroom was really tired looking and in need of an update. For the money the whole village looked tired and in need of a good re paint. A lot of buildings there you can't go inside because they are accomodation. I had a thousand ideas, and if it were my business I could find so many ways of improvement and making more. However I feel they are leaning too much on the Port Meiron Village as a past reputation, and sadly aren't up to scratch with today's modern expectations and maintenance for the extra money they charge. Added to this when we got home we realised we were over charged by £40.00! We had someone else drinks added to our bill. They don't check your name, they only ask your room number. So all in all yes the Penthouse space was nice, the fire was nice and the bed was lovely, but it does need some TLC. For the money? No sorry not worth it.

So behind the times to not let dogs in - very disappointing.
There is no excuse Portmeirion! We love our dogs and the UK dog ownership has increased hugely in the last 5 years

This place is pretty out of place in the Welsh countryside, and feels like an odd step into the world of Ghibli. The walks are lovely and the shop is spectacular- honestly best gift shop I’ve ever seen, more like a department store

Smaller than we expected. Looking a little scruffy in places and requiring a coat of paint in many areas. In February few if any places to eat and drink or shop. £10 per person to get in, assistance dogs allowed but no others. Took us aroud 90 minutes to take a good look around.

I was considering booking dinner or afternoon tea at Portmeirion for the 5 of us. I expected it to be costly but I can’t seem to find prices for children? Surely afternoon tea or dinner would offer a reduced rate for kids? Mine already eat like birds so the high prices seem insane for them?

£18 entry free for adults, not sure what a family ticket costs. But yes, pay for your ticket and you can stay till it ‘closes’ to the general public - you have access to the beach

Yes but we thought it was terribly expensive. We always take a picnic when we go out for the day but there are cafes and restaurants there plus an ice cream parlour which we did use, the ice cream was delicious and a reasonable price.
